Shedding Season

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. VUBOQ is shedding readers like his cat is shedding hair. FIVE FUCKING BRUSHFULS and, OMG, she needs to be BRUSHED again. GodDamn UnNaturally Warm February. The Fucking Crocuses (Croci?) will be coming up soon. GAH. But, anyway, sorry about the slackass posts recently. VUBOQ's life is pretty much shit (except for the one diamond amongst the excrement, who we are referring to as CNTBD, apparently). My unemployment benefits have ended ... with no notification that the Emergency Unemployment Compensation will be kicking in (although I might be hearing something about that soon). I still have No Jobz. Fortunately, I have teh Finances to live. And I will not bitch about my Monetary Situation until two things happen: (1) I can't afford catfood and (2) I can't afford gin. Once that happens, it's the Motherforking Apocalpyse, Kittens. And you'd better be showing up at my door with bucketfuls of teh Cash. I won't bitch, but it's still Brin...

Walk Report

Image
Good Evening, Kittens. I'm up from my nap, having a martini, and reflecting on my day ... The DC AIDS Walk was amazing. Even though I couldn't convince anyone to walk with me, being among those thousands of people and knowing that so many friends and readers and family had supported me kept me going. Not that it was a long walk, but still ... Not surprisingly, I got a bit of a late start. I'm not sure why. I woke up in plenty of time, but I guess I over-dawdled. I saw the bus I needed to catch to the train station pulling away as I left my apartment. Bah. By the time I got to the starting point (and bought a cup of coffee ... I was dying for some coffee), the Walk had already stepped off ... Here are some pictures I took along the route: Wait for me! Wait for me! Walkers: More Walkers: Almost finished: A few more photos are here. I was done in about 45 minutes, I guess? Maybe an hour? It was a great way to spend the morning. When I got home, I decided to have an on...

GOAL!

Image
Knowing that I have the best friends and family EVER is a Thing That Makes Me Happy . $1000 in less than 4 days! Thanks so much for your generousity and good wishes. I'll be carrying all of your thoughts with me as I walk tomorrow morning ... (and, since I haven't been able to convince anyone to walk with me -yet-, that may be all I have to keep me company!) *smooches* and *hugs* [Of course, if you still want to donate, you may. Click here !]

Only $45 to Go! HUZZAH!

Good morning, Kittens! What a way to wake up this morning! Donations to my AIDS Walk have reached $955! This is so totally awesome. Not only am I a mere $45 away from reaching my goal, but I have raised more than I did last year. I truly appreciate all your support. Of course, if you haven't donated, you may do so by clickityclickclicking here . Dig deep! Give big! Win pottery! And, in other exciting news, I have a phone interview this afternoon. I'll need to start prepping for that soon. The job sounds interesting, but I have some concerns about the salary possibilities. We shall see ... Hm. Lessee ... what else ... my time in the pottery studio was well-spent. I trimmed a large bowl and 2 small casseroles. I also attached handles to the casseroles. I would go again today, but I feel I should devote my time to phone interview prep. Last night, I went to Kristi's for a Debate-Viewing Party. Lots of fun. But not much else to say about it ... right now. I'...

A Loaf of Bread, A Jug of Wine

Image
Stopping off for a cheap happy hour glass of wine at the cute little wine shop/cafe, Adega, on the way home from the pottery studio is a Thing That Makes Me Happy : Splurging on an order of eggplant fries makes me happy too: BUT, having so many people support me in the AIDS Walk makes me the happiest of all. Srsly, I'm at nearly 2/3 of my goal! You people ROCK! (and you can still donate by following this link ) *smooches*

Over Halfway Home

Good Morning, Kittens! Here's some happy news to start the day: I'm a little over halfway to my goal of $1000 for the DC AIDS Walk! After only one day of begging for cash! I think raising the rest by Saturday is very do-able. If you'd like to contribute to the cause, click here . According to Sitemeter, about 80-100 people visit this blog every day. If everyone contributed just $5 today , I'd make my goal. And, think of the bragging rights: I raised $1000 in less than 4 days. And I'd have you to thank! AND, you'll be entered into a drawing for some fabulous (yet-to-be-made) original VUBOQ pottery. So, go. Click! Give! Win! Oh, Chelsea asked a good question about my goal: What happens if I don't raise the entire $1000? Nothing. I know sometimes the individual is responsible for paying the remainder of the goal (for example, the AIDS Marathon Training Program has a minimum which *must* be raised). The AIDS Walk is not like that. Which is a good t...

I Should Be Used to September Being a Bad Month By Now

Good Morning, Kittens! Happy October! So many exciting things happen this month ... like ... um ... Columbus Day! and ... um ... Putting Up the Christmas Decorations in All the Stores Day! And, of course, the SOCIAL EVENT OF THE SEASON: VUBOQ's 6th (7th?) Annual BYOP Pumpkin Carving Party (stay tuned for details)! Also, it is the time of year when VUBOQ needs the influx of Good Karma and he gets crazy ideas in his head that in order to mitigate all the BAD things that have happened recently he should do some GOOD things. Like the DC AIDS WALK. Which is what he did last year, and -thanks in large part to you beautiful people- he surpassed his goal of $500 and in less than two weeks raised $815 for the most deserving Whitman-Walker Clinic. So, guess what? These past few months have been even worse than last year's past few months. And, VUBOQ has decided he needs Extra-Good Karma and will try to raise $1000 for the DC AIDS WALK ... which is on OCTOBER 4th. Raising $1000 in four d...

And I Would Walk 500 Miles

Image
And I would walk 500 more. Just to be the man who walked a thousand miles to fall down at your door. I had such a great morning at the AIDS Walk. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. It means a lot to me to know that I have such great friends all over. Here is a little AIDS Walk Photo Essay (with an extra special surprise at the end): Tomoko and Peter, my Walkers-in-Crime, who helped keep my team "One is the Loneliest Number" from being so lonely, looking not so awake ( It was 9 AM. On a SATURDAY ) on the metro. Waiting for Peter to buy coffee so he would look more awake during the Walk. The Walk (and, yes, I was taking a picture of that guy's really nice ass). Peter abandons us about 6 blocks from the end. Bye, Peter. *sniff* Good luck in the Army 10-Miler on Sunday! Finally, a well-deserved post-Walk bloody mary! YAY! Brunch. Thanks to YOU, in only 2 weeks, I raised $815 for the Whitman-Walker Clinic, which was, like 6 Billion Per Cent more th...

One Step at a Time

I'll be wearing this tomorrow: Thanks for your sponsorship :-) *smooches* [There's still time to donate, if you want . No pressure.] PS. If you don't want your name/nickname advertised for all to see, let me know and I will turn it in to pretty flowers or something .

I Can See Clearly Now the Stain is Gone

*w00t* I am so happy. The Guardsman Stain Removal Man arrived right on time . He assessed the damage, took a few photos, and spritz, spritz, spritz, zoom, zoom, zoom, in approximately 30 minutes the wine stain was HISTORY! *happy dance of joy!* Could I be more excited? I doubt it, but ... maybe ... In other news ... Tonight is my little cocktail party for the people who have agreed to walk with me tomorrow morning in the AIDS WALK . BTW, it's not too late to throw a few pennies my way and sponsor my walk. In fact, if you do, you'll be entered into a fun drawing for one of two fabulous prizes [prizes TBD, winners announced this weekend at some point]. Click here to make your dreams come true .

Things are Gettin' Busy

Didn't do much last night other than tidy oop , chat with a few friends, and laundry. Today, during my lunch break, I'm heading to the Whole Foods. I invited the friends who are walking with me on Saturday over for cocktails and light snacks on Friday evening. Plus, tonight, I want to make this Sweet Potato/Black Bean Stew (with modifications*). Then, during my afternoon break, I'm going to scurry into the District to pick up my AIDS Walk t-shirt (and, thus, avoid the lines on Saturday). Speaking of the AIDS Walk (did you know I'm participating in it?), if you haven't contributed, and you want to, there's still time . Click here . So far, I've managed to raise $735, which is just friggin' awesome . Can I tell you how much my friends [you!] rock? Can I? They [You!] AYERS ROCK ! Friday, the Stain Removal Guy is coming in the morning. Yay! Everyone cross your fingers that the wine stain will be successfully eliminated. After work, I will clean...

Hot Nude Photos** Coming Soon

I took a walk to the Safeway this morning and bought: 1. Laundry detergent, and 2. Rechargeable batteries for my digicam ! Yay! Now, I should be able to take more than 1 photo before the thing shuts down with the Red Bar of Death: Low Battery . I can't wait to snap pics of the AIDS Walk * on Saturday, my parents' visit, and ... my attempts at pottery-making! I know you all are looking forward to seeing those. In other news, yesterday, I almost got run-over by a gigantoid Mercedes with the vanity plate "GOT CRST?" I have no idea why they were asking about my toothpaste, but whatever. *Speaking of the AIDS Walk, it's not too late to sponsor me! Click here ! I have been overwhelmed by everyone's generosity. I'm still thinking about this, but one (or two) lucky sponsors may win a Very Special Prize ! **I'm kidding about the nude photos.

Weekend Update: Drinky McDrinkerson Edition

Friday, after work, I met Tomoko and Mike for happy hour at Nellie's, the new gay sports bar on U and 9th. It was fun. $3 Snow Queen Vodka cocktails! The food was typical sports bar food, lots of battered and deep-fried goodies. The best food we had was something they are going to be discontinuing soon - Mac 'n' Cheese Fritters. OMG. Deep-fried balls of mac 'n' cheese served on a bed of curly fries. YUM! Did you hear that sound? It was one of my arteries clogging. The bar has a really cool roofdeck, so we went up there for a bit. And a few more drinks. Then, it was time to go. Tomoko and I got to Silver Spring metro station and just missed a bus. We decided to wait for the next one at the bar at Austin Grill. Mmm. Margaritas. While there, we met this cute little boy [early 20s, under 5'5"]. We talked to him for a bit, but couldn't decided on his sexual preference. When we left, we gave him our contact information to see who he would con...

Pussy in Repose

Image
Because I haven't posted enough photos of the PsychoKitty: Isabella on the Sofa (Can you spot the wine stain ?) Does that print look crooked? Close-up! Cat in a Hot Tin Tub I'm a little overhung today. Last night was fun. I think I'll wait 'til my Weekend Update on Monday to fill you in on the all the gory details, though. There's more excitement happening tonight and tomorrow. [Oooh. Suspense. Can you handle it?] AND, many, many, many thanks to all of you are sponsoring my AIDS Walk ! Because of YOU, I have surpassed my goal!!! Seriously, you made me cry last night when I looked at my donation page. I am sending you all HUGE HUGS and SMOOCHES . [If you still want to donate, you can. Click here . The Walk is on October 6th. I think I'm going to put all your names on a card or something to carry with me.]

Hormonal

OhEmGee, kittens. Like, I am a fountain of weepiness . How the hell did this happen? This morning, I was fine and dandy. Ever since about noon o'clock, I have wanted to crawl under my desk and sob. I have, like, little tears squeezing out of the corner of my eyes. What the fork is going on? And, then, like the fool I am, I had to go check out my AIDS Walk page ... I'm only $60 away from reaching my Team Goal, considering I'm the only one on my team. I have the most awesomest friends EVER! Seriously, if you're my friend ~and if you're reading this more than likely you are~, give yourself a BIG HUG from me. Right now. Do it. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeze really hard. Of course, reaching my goal of $500 in less than two weeks would be TOTALLY awesome, but you know what would be TOTALLY AWESOMER? Surpassing that goal! Yep, that's right. That would have to be the most TOTALLY AWESOMEST THING EVER ... ... except for, maybe, meeting and falling in love with a TOTALLY AWE...

A Say Something Hat Day

I made a pitcher. It's quite lovely, if I do say so myself. I forgot to take a picture of my pitcher, but it still has to survive trimming, handle attaching, firing, glazing, and firing again. I'm trying not to become too attached. Before anyone makes any sort of jokes about me making a pitcher because I need a new one, please know that I was making all those jokes in my head during class. In fact, for some reason, I kept getting the Pervy Monkey Giggles ... especially when the supercute (but very young) straight Jewish boy kept talking about tapping the bottom ... of his bowl. This pottery making thing is a lot more difficult than I remembered. It is taking a lot more concentration than I thought. I did notice that if one semi-yells "fuck!" while making a cylinder, the instructor almost immediately rushes over to help. Quite handy that. VUBOQ needs to watch his language in his class filled with babies . Or college sophomores. Same difference. After class, ...

When It's Over ...

I officially ended it last night. He IM'ed me around 8 saying he was leaving school and to call if I needed to talk. I didn't need to talk, but I called anyway. The conversation was strange and awkward, full of pauses and half-started sentences. He asked what I was thinking, so I said, "I'm thinking we should go our separate ways." There was a long pause. "I thought maybe we could work things out. Maybe I wasn't clear last night ..." "I understood what you were trying to say. I'm never going to want a non-monogamous relationship. And I can't make you, and you can't force yourself, to love me. What is there to work out?" There was another long pause. "Maybe ..." "Why don't you take some time to think about it? If you come up with a solution, I listen to it," I said. He's supposed to come over today to return my house keys. And that will be it, I guess. We have plans to meet friends on Sunday a...
