Good Afternoon, Kittens. VUBOQ is major cranky, yo. I had a volunteer gig lined up for this morning. Then, I was going to toodle around the District, running errands and, perhaps, going to the NGA to see the Pompeii exhibit. Last night, around 6, I get an email from the Volunteer Coordinator. And, guess what? They had *such* a successful turnout over the weekend that they don't need anyone to come in this week. So, let's see ... they had volunteers come in on Saturday, who completed all the work to be done, but it took until Tuesday at Close of Business to email the Wednesday volunteers that they weren't needed? WTF? Oh. The excuse was "we're so busy around here." Mmhm. Well, y'know, people who volunteer also have busy lives and like to make plans. And, when they've already turned down things so they can help out, a little more advanced notice and a lot more appreciation would be nice. How hard is it to send out an email first thing Monday morning? Not...

Hello, Kittens! You've all been so patient with my rather *blah* past few posts, here's a little bit more fun tidbits from my life ... I received a surprise package today! A CD (Bridget Jones Diary 2) and a book (Brideshead Revisited). So fun! It's amazing how a little act of kindness like that brightened my dreary mood. OMG. I feel so HAPPY (and I'm *almost* 100% positive it's not just the gin). In other news, I have a kind-of-date tonight. At 7:30. I probably shouldn't be having this martini. I call it a "kind-of-date" because I am going to dinner with a friend of a friend, who recently (in August) ended a 13-year relationship. I think that kind of hurt takes longer to heal than a few months. We'll have food and drinks and laughs and superhotsteamybuttsecks call it a night, I think. The trees are about the only things that are red in my district! Hurray for Liberal Values! Kittens, there was NO line. It took me longer to decide what to buy from the PTA Bake Sale (rum cake and cranberry/orange pound cake) than it did to vote. I could only choose one. Sorry, Cynthia. We talked to our neighbor, who is a better citizen that I'll ever be. She takes the day off work to be a volunteer poll worker/election judge/person. Isn't that awesome? Then, we walked up to hip and happenin' Downtown Silver Spring for our FREE Starbucks! Yayz! Life is good. Did you??? Kittens! I walked into Whole Foods this afternoon (after deciding not to spend *all* the money my parents sent me* on booze) and what did my wondering eyes behold? ZOMGz! The Whole Foods 365 Brand Pink Grapefruit Italian Soda, which mysteriously vanished from the shelves a few weeks ago (or at least I noticed it a few weeks ago. Sometimes, VUBOQ is not the most observant) has returned !!! Oh, happy happy joy joy! But, then, a shocking realization ... it has returned smaller and more expensive ! WTFup with that, Whole Foods? Bad pink grapefruit season? I mean, really ... the Lemon Italian Soda is still in the big bottle with the (slightly) low(er) price.
