Because I Can Keep a Secret

Good Morning, Kittens. Who am I kidding? I can't keep a secret to save my life ... but, for right now, let's just say I have things (well one thing in particular) that I want to tell everyone in Vutopia, but I can't. And, it's not the "not telling" that is causing me stress ... it's the Actuality of the Event that is causing me stress. And, it's not the Not Having a Job Thing either ... although, that is causing an entirely different type of stress... Immediate Stress vs. Impending Absolute Poverty Stress. Neither of which is fun at one time. Combined? You wonder why I drink so much. Sometimes (like now), I'm amazed that my body doesn't collapse upon itself (like the house in Teh Amityville Horror or was it Poltergeist ? ). And, because it doesn't, I am reminded that I can go on. And I do. Go on. BTW, have I mentioned that my hair is looking fan-forking-tastic? Oh, wait. I was talking about how stressed I am. Which I am. But even ...

Leaving on a Jet Plane!

Don't know if I'll be back again ... That's right, Kittens. As you read this, I am (hopefully) sitting at the airport thinking, "Did I remember to pack my toothbrush?" I didn't. I'm sure. Oh, wait. Here it is. [I'm also typing this post on Monday night, so that bit was a lot funnier to me] ANYWAYZ, DAVID DON'T FORGET IT'S 12 OF 12!!! Mine will certainly be interesting. Especially if I turn up hacked into pieces in a freezer in a garage in Tulsa, OK. Photographic evidence of the Killer will be Right. Here. On. the Blog. Assuming, of course, that I get hacked into pieces after I am able to post. I say this all in jest. Srsly. He is a nice guy. And ShallowGal and SCGB have his address, cellphone number, and instructions to call the police if they don't hear from me (just in case). Bases? They are covered. My current dilemma is this. Last night, nothing was out of the kiln. AND, none of my greenware had been bisque fired. Hello?...

GAH and ACK!

Good (still, but just barely) Morning, Kittens! What a day! Not only do the Parental Units arrive tomorrow for a four day visit, but several government jobs -which I thought closed next week- close today! I've written three essays this morning (and applied to one job) already, but I still have seven more essays to write. GAH! Combine that with trying to get the house Mom Clean and you have Total Stress Monster. Which usually results in me getting absolutely nothing accomplished. We shall see ... Anyway, last night was fun. Dinner with Tomokito and Eric from Baltimore at El Golfo was delicious. And, mmm, margaritas! Then, after dropping of Tomokito, EfB and I met Jerry at Cobalt for $1 highballs. Huzzah! We ran into Joey (Ray's ex) there too. A good time was had by all. Today, I'll be busy writing and cleaning. Tomorrow, the folks arrive in the afternoon. We'll probably go shopping or something. Sunday, we're headed the National Arboretum to see the che...

Shut Up About Tim Gunn Already

Good Morning, Kittens. As you know, I went to the Tim Gunn lecture last night. And it totally solidified my uber-crush on him. He's so smart and articulate and stylish and funny and ... and ... and ... *swoon* Anyway, here's another piece of PR gossip: Tim Gunn's favorite look from all 5 seasons: [highlight to read] The Chris/Christian Avant-Garde dress from Season 4. Before Tim Gunn's lecture, I stopped by the pottery studio and glazed a few things. Today is SuperPanicPartyMode! I've got to make the shopping list. The guy I went to dinner with two nights ago (henceforth known as "Mark" (because that would be his name)) is bringing by a 30-cup coffee maker this morning. Very Special Out-of-Town Guest arrives and we have to arrange a time/place to have a Passing of the Keys. At some point this afternoon, I will be heading to Costco and Giant with Mike to do fun fun fun grocery shopping. Gah. Fun times, kittens. Let's hope my brain doesn't esp...

Goals for Saturday

Good Morning, Kittens. I had a bit of a late start this morning, because (at some point in the night) the power went out (and came back on). Thus, I awoke to the blinky alarm clock. "No wonder I feel so well-rested," I thought, before realizing, "OMG! 2 HOURS BEHIND SCHEDULE! MOVE, DAMMIT! MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!!!!" Welcome to my World. Anywayz........ Here is what needs to be accomplished today: 1. Finish making the SuperFantabulous Ice Ring for the Punch 2. Clean the Kitchen 3. Clean the Bedrooms 4. Clean the Bathroom 5. Clean the Living Room 6. VUBOQ Discovers the Joy in "Scheduling" a Post

Image
Good Morning, Kittens! Except it's really still Thursday night, but I have realized that OMG! BYOP Pumpkin Carving Party is in less than 2 days! and GAH! Hostess Panic! So I am writing this post now. And "scheduling" it to publish tomorrow morning! Behold! The Wonders of Technology. It's an amazing thing. Soon, I'm pretty sure I won't even have to type. Blogger will just post things for me. Easy! Peasy! Anyway ... Thursdays exciting events were ... 1. Writing DC AIDS Walk donor thank you email (did you get yours? Hope so!) 2. Searching for jobs (because, like, I have to apply to 2 jobs per week for my unemployment benefits, and how many have I applied for so far this week? Hm ... the answer you are searching for would be NONE!). 3. An exciting shopping trip to Trader Joe's and Target with the wonderful (and car-owning) Clio Bluestocking ! in which we discussed the merits of the Entertainment Diet and solved the entire economic crisis in just a few hours. A...

Things I Accomplished Yesterday

1. Washed dishes. 2. Fed the cat. 3. hmmm ... there must be something else. 4. Made a margarita. And another margarita. 5. Played lots and lots of Scramble on Facebook. 6. Heated up a veggie burger. 7. Strained the Thai Basil-Infused Vodka (it is delicious mixed with tonic), 8. Watched Project Runway (so sad about who got auf'ed). 9. Watched Shear Genius. 10. Went to bed. Which is all well and good, except ... Do you see anything on that list that says cleaned the house ? or wrote the essay for the job application ? Me either. GAH! And the parents are arriving in T-minus 54 hours. ACK! And the job closes at midnight on Friday! PANIC!!!!! So, one of us needs to buckle down and git bizzay ! *looks for a volunteer* More later. *smooches*

Don't Panic

Ok. Do panic. Here is a short list of things which cause mild panic attacks (what? our hearts aren't *supposed* to beat at 150 times/minute?) if I think about them too much: Impending Unemployment Not having a new job lined up Running out of money John McCain An apartment which looks like its insides exploded Having an apartment which looks like its insides exploded, but still inviting about 10 friends over for margaritas (and a very special viewing of Xanadu ) on Saturday. Having an apartment which looks like its insides exploded, but still inviting about 10 friends over for margaritas (and a very special viewing of Xanadu ) on Saturday even though there is the impending unemployment and serious concerns about running out of money. Thank Gawd for deep breaths, cheesy poofs, booze, and a squeezable kitty.

I had a lovely dinner with SuperHotBloggerChick . You can read all the gory details here . [Recently added info:] And since I'm most definitely not a straight guy (srsly), I can use this forum (HUZZAH) to completely queen out and be all, "OMG! We totally ordered the exact . same . thing ." It *must* be Blogger Luv (Bluv?). I have a picture to prove it (but I think I'm going to post it over there just to make you go read my other blog). [VUBOQ is such a meany!] As soon as I got back from lunch (and blogged about it. Priorities, people!), I called the salon to make an appointment with Leah, the Colornatrix (love her!). Thursday, 5/29, 5PM. Suh-WEET! I will be looking SuperFine for my Excellent Weekend in NYC. Yayz. I'm always this boring ... Enjoy!] 1 task done. 8 GABILLION MORE TO GO!!!! And to start this post off with a bang, here's the question I submitted to my manager this morning for the weekly report: Q: What species of animal should be used for oral/dermal pharmacokinetics testing? A: According to 40 CFR 795.228(c)(1)(i), the rat shall be used for pharmacokinetics testing because it has been used extensively for metabolic and toxicological studies. For dermal bioavailability studies, the rat and the mini-pig* shall be used. OK. WAKE UP!!!! What else do I have to do today? GAH! ~Make Y's birthday card! I am suddenly feeling strangely discombobulated and a little stressed out. Not sure what is going on ... Update [at 1:30PM] : I had to get out of the office, so I'm at home for the next hour or so. Lunch. Mmm. And here are the photos I promised in my previous post: Pottery Creation: Sunrise: And, to prove I actually took those sunrise photos, VUBOQ at the Ungodly Hour:

Hopin' and Prayin'

Still no news about my class tonight. I am really not wanting to go, and not because I am supposed to be reading ... ALOUD ... my short story tonight. [OK, partly because of that.] My main reason for not wanting to go is that it will be slippery outside. Slip.Er. EEEEEEeeee... Usually, I go home for dinner first. Then, I walk to the Metro station and take the Red Line to Bethesda. Yes, this is the long way; however, rush hour Metro on the Red Line is chock full o' hot mancandy. Mmmm. I think they get a discount or something. What else would explain all that deliciousness in one place at one time? Since the sidewalks are gigantic alleys of slush, I do not want to walk home. I can either take the bus or stay in downtown Silver Spring, which means that I would need to eat dinner out. [Anyone in Silver Spring want to meet me for dinner?] It's an added expense I really don't want. And, of course, the trip home from class at 10PM will not be fun, since I catch the bus and the for...
