Tell Me About It, Stud

Sligo Creek before the Deluge Good Afternoon, Kittens! Well, Sandy has come and gone.  She tried to do her worst, but we persevered.  The power flickered once, but that was it.  Hurrah! So, how did I spend my day "working from home?" I'm so glad you asked ... I baked a pumpkin in my toaster oven. I sat on the sofa a lot ... except when a certain Ball o' Kitteh stole my spot. I ventured out into the wind and the rain to take a photo of the roaring torrent, Sligo Creek. I made Blue Hubbard Squash Risotto, using this recipe (minus the radicchio). Isabella and I celebrated when the radiators came on. Then, I headed up to K-Factor and the Canadian's apartment for an evening change of scenery. And, that was my day.  Good times for sure. Today, I am trying to be productive, but it's not happening.  Boo. *smooches*

Weekend Update: I Ran All Night Edition

Image
Good Morning, Kittens! Not much to catch up on from the week.  Work is work.  I missed pottery class last Monday (sore back.  bad rain.  lazy).  My date with the SuperHot Trainer Guy got postponed (again).  His other job keeps him very busy, and he has to work late a lot.  *sigh*  And, I did laundry. This weekend, however, quite a bit happened. I decorated for Halloween.  Meaning, I put up my Halloween lights, including the Cute New Mummy Lights I got using a Target gift card I found the other day. THEN, I got a package: Cute Nu Shoooooz!  They are an early Xmas present from my parents.  Yay for parents who support your bad habits! That evening, I met SCGB at Adega for wine and carb-loading.  I had (most of) a ginormous flatbread pizza.  YUM! And, on Sunday, I woke up SuperEarly.  My co-worker and her BF picked me up and we headed to the Army Ten Miler.  I had a pretty good run.  It w...

Weekend Update: Days of Nothing Special Edition

Image
Good morning, kittens! I am sitting here staring out the window wondering if those are actually snow flurries I'm seeing or if it's time to schedule an eye appointment. I love my occasional Monday off :-) My weekend was full of not doing much. On Friday, after work, I stopped by the Whole Foods and picked up a frozen pizza and some pistachio gelatto (and a box of wine and some bourbon from the likker store). I ate pizza, drank wine, and watched "Horrible Bosses," which had a few laugh out loud moments ... so I give it 3 stars! Saturday, I went for a 5 mile run. I set a couple PRs: Fastest 5K (25:38) and Fastest Mile (7:54). I also have run 100 miles since getting my new Nike+ GPS watch for Xmas. When I got back, I borrowed K-Factor's blender and made a green smoothie: I used some of my credit card points to buy a new blender (it is small, only holds 14 oz) and zhuzher. As soon as I get them, I am totally going to zhuzh some soup! Then, I finished my taxes! ...

I've Been in My PJs All Day

It's been lovely. Last night was a lot of fun. In all, 9 people were here, all of my upstairs neighbors, plus Jerry and his friend and Y. The curry was excellent (if I do say so myself); the beverages free-flowing; and the conversation was good. Jerry and his friend left around 9:30(?) and, then, the rest of us played this game called "Catchphrase." I guess everyone (except Y) left around 11:30. I managed to get the house relatively clean and the dishes (mostly) done by midnight. Then, I went to bed. It was very nice to sleep in this morning. And I worked on making my Friday plan a reality: I got up, made coffee, and spent the rest of the day on the sofa watching DVDs (in particular, Project Runway Season 1). Y was trying to do work while I was watching PR1, and, at one point, closed his laptop and said, "I can't do any work with the TV on." "OK," I replied and continued watching TV. He packed up his stuff and left. I'm not really sure what he...

Suck It, Princess*

I had all sorts of plans when I got home; however, none of them really materialized (except for the drinking the martini part ... which could have been part of the problem). I was going to take photos of things for which I am thankful and do a FUNtastic photo essay this morning. Didn't happen. Suck it, princess. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow, when I'm bored and alone and drinking myself into my Traditional Thanksgiving Stupor™, before the participants of the Return of the Traditional Thai Curry Thanksgiving arrive. Plans for today include final grocery shopping, buying more booze (it's not for me, really), laundry, bank, taking out the compost and recycling, and clean clean clean clean clean cleaning. Fortunately, our boss is letting us leave at 3PM today. *woot* Addendum: Mel , I *heart* Bette Midler's Cool Yule . *Thank you, Only Me , for the fabulicious phrase.

K-Brr.

I was planning on walking to the post office this morning to mail off a few packages. However, it be cold. And I don't wanna go outside. [I also have been a bit busy this morning answering email inquiries, but that wasn't what kept me from going.] I am such a wuss. On the bright side, it's inspired me to make yummy Spicy Chinese Noodle Soup with Bok Choy and Mushrooms. And Tofu! Mmmmm ... With Rice! (and speaking of rice ...) Last night, I did three (count 'em, THREE) friggin' loads of laundry. And, I still have another load that I couldn't motivate to do. *sigh* Tomoko came down for drinks and conversation around 9. Yay! We had Manhattans. Mmm. And that's about it. *smooches*

Neither Isabella nor I have spent much time off of my super comfortable sofa. Mmm. Sofa. Mmm. Booze. Mmm. Knitting. Mmm. Harry Potter. Is it nap time yet? PS. What is it about cats and paper grocery bags?
