Weekend Update: Half-Marathon Edition

Image
Good Evening, Kittens. I have returned from a fun-filled and slightly exhausting weekend in the City of Brothers Who Love. After work on Friday, I headed to Union Station.  My train wasn't scheduled to depart until nearly 9PM, so I had arranged to meet a friend for drinks/food beforehand. Said friend never showed up.  Grrrrr.  And, then, made some lousy excuse.  This is a friend that I used to hang out with last year, but he met a boyfriend and ignored me.  Now, they have broken up, and he contacted me again.  I thought I would give him another shot.  Oh, well.  I am done with that guy. The train trip to Philadelphia was uneventful.  I was mostly drunk.  V from Philly picked me up at the train station and we drove back to his place.  Had a few drinks.  And went to bed (it was nearly midnight). The next morning, there may (or may not) have been some Morning Fun.  Then, we met Lora for brunch at the Green Eggs Ca...

Meanwhile ...

Good Afternoon, Kittens. I have almost fully rehydrated (huzzah!), so here's a little bit more on my day yesterday ... Anne-Marie from Philly came to visit for the day. We met around 10:30 in the morning, and I forced her to run some errands with me (bank and likker store). Then, we wandered over to Adega for wine ... and lunch. The lovely Ms. Bluestockingtales joined us there. The food was yummy. Mmm. Mmm. Then, we drove back to my place for knitting and Xanadu and Mad Men, Season 1 and martinis and more knitting. Anne-Marie gave Isabella a hand-knit catnip-filled toy (which Isabella LOVES) and she brought me a bottle of Philadelphia-made gin (which I *know* I am going to LOVE ... once I open it). Which may be this weekend. Time flew by and Anne-Marie had to catch the bus back to Silver Spring. *wah* Ms. Bluestockingtales and I continued to watch Mad Men . Then, K-Factor and SCGB came down around 8 and we all had ice cream with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. YUM!...

Shut Up About Tim Gunn Already

Good Morning, Kittens. As you know, I went to the Tim Gunn lecture last night. And it totally solidified my uber-crush on him. He's so smart and articulate and stylish and funny and ... and ... and ... *swoon* Anyway, here's another piece of PR gossip: Tim Gunn's favorite look from all 5 seasons: [highlight to read] The Chris/Christian Avant-Garde dress from Season 4. Before Tim Gunn's lecture, I stopped by the pottery studio and glazed a few things. Today is SuperPanicPartyMode! I've got to make the shopping list. The guy I went to dinner with two nights ago (henceforth known as "Mark" (because that would be his name)) is bringing by a 30-cup coffee maker this morning. Very Special Out-of-Town Guest arrives and we have to arrange a time/place to have a Passing of the Keys. At some point this afternoon, I will be heading to Costco and Giant with Mike to do fun fun fun grocery shopping. Gah. Fun times, kittens. Let's hope my brain doesn't esp...

I Would Have Preferred to Have Been Told in Person

Ricky Martin Says He Wants to Adopt Ricky Martin wants kids -- perhaps adopting "one from each continent" if possible. "It's something we want to begin to create this year, a family of many colors," the 35-year-old pop star told reporters Wednesday in Puerto Rico, where he is scheduled to perform this weekend. Ricky, honey, baby, sweetie-pie, snookums , seriously, you should have talked to me about this first. I mean, really, to have parenthood thrust upon me like this ... it's not good for my complexion. And telling reporters before telling me, your sweet baboo? So. not. cute. Have I gone blabbing to the press about your flabby middle ( and *cough* liposuction *cough* )? I think not. I'm not really sure we're ready for parenthood... Remember the good times, sugar muffin.

Knitting Right Along

Image
Last night was uneventful. I did two loads of laundry. I watched movies. And, I knitted (Therefore, I am'ed). The Oscar Project is coming along well: Except, I'm not sure if I have enough scrap yarn to finish it. That would be a problem. Meanwhile ... *singing* Meet me in Las Vegas, VEGAS! Meet me at the ... SPICE GIRLS WORLD TOUR !!! (December 8th. Mark yer calendars!) *shriek* Lessee ... Y was supposed to come over last night, but he fell asleep. Behold the ravages of jetlag! I'm headed over to his place after work. I don't have to be at work tomorrow until 12:30, so we can have a relaxing morning in! Yay. (*rowr*)

Half-Day Friday!

*woot* I am outta here at 12:30 today! YAY for Summer Hours! Plans include meeting Mike for lunch near AU, doing a little shopping, then heading home for an easy night in. Aah. Last night was fun. Met Jerry at the National Press Club for drinks and dinner. Then, we went to see a special screening of A Mighty Heart , which was awesome. Angelina Jolie was amazing. Let it be known, that, when Hollywood decides to turn my life into a big cinematic experience (well, bigger than it already is), I want to be played by Angelina Jolie! Other than that, not much else is going on. I'm watching the hours slowly tick by until Monday. I told Y I would cook dinner, and this is what I'm planning: caprese salad (tomato, mozzarella, and basil) pasta tossed with homemade pesto garlic bread My biggest decision, now, is what wine goes well with that? I'm thinking either a light red or white (like pinot grigio?)? Any suggestions? Have a great weekend, kittens! *smooches*

Weekend Update: Bitch Got Some Pipes Edition

Image
Last night, thanks to a generous friend of Robert, we were able to go to the True Colors Tour ! And, man, was it awesome or what? So much fun. Seems like every fag in the metro area was there. I ran into Convertible Mike in the restroom. And Robert pointed out a member of the gay bloggerati . [Which raises an interesting question: What's the etiquette when you spot someone who you've never met, but you read their blog regularly? Is it OK to go and introduce yourself? Or is it best to admire from a safe and respectful distance?] Anyway, Margaret Cho hosted, and she was on point! Very funny. And, I say this from the point of view of having recently watched her DVD, Cho Revolution , and not being impressed. at all. The Opening Act was The Gossip . And, like, wow. True color me impressed. I want to run out and buy all their CDs and be a giggling screaming little school girl at all their concerts ... except, for some reason, I think a giggling screaming little school girl might get ...

Tarting Up the News

Perhaps this is what Dan Rather meant :

Stalking Tim Gunn

If no one has anything better to do on Saturday and is up for a little Tim Gunn stalking: He'll be making an "appearance" [not an "official signing"] at Lambda Rising "sometime between 11AM and 1PM on Saturday, April 21. Then, at 3PM he'll be at Politics and Prose for a talk [and I assume an "official signing"]. Tim! Gunn! *woot* Care to join me?
