Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow

Yesterday ... I went to work. I had happy hour with friends. I drank too much (four tom collinses). I may (or may not) have made out with a guy who I used to date, who (later that evening) may (or may not) have made out with another guy in our group who I thought was rillyrilly cute. Except I left early. Because I was a little drunk. So, rillyrilly cute guy became Fair Game. I started texting guys in my phone who I haven't texted in a longlong time. Some of them texted back. I watched "Despicable Me." I went to bed. Today ... I woke up. I managed to get out of bed. I may (or may not) have been a little overhung. I walked to the Whole Foods. I baked cookies. 3 dozen peanut butter cookies. Almost 5 dozen snickerdoodles. I used my new kitchenaid standmixer. It's red.  My new shoes arrived. They are also red. One dozen of the snickerdoodles cooked for too long. They are like brickerdoodles.  I tried to take a nap. I couldn't sleep. I wat...

And, I'm Telling You ...

The moment my heart broke was when the bottle of sunscreen he threw in anger hit the wall above my head. And, that was my weekend. *smooches*

Weekend Update: Miracle Pills Edition

Good Evening, My Sweet, Sweet, Furry Kittens of Joy! My weekend was chock full o' fun and excitement, if you define "fun and excitement" as "being on the sofa, watching DVDs, and knitting." On Friday, I went to an orthopedic surgeon.  He (well, his nurse) took x-rays of my back.  And, it looks fine (so he says).  There are a couple of picky little things going on with my lower vertebrae, but they are probably not the cause of my SuperIntenseBackPainOwOwOw.  So, he prescribed physical therapy (meh) and a Bottle of Miracle Pills (aka NSAIDs).  Seriously, I took the first one and, in, like, 15 minutes most of the debilitating back pain was Gone!  I still have a nagging little twinge and am not nearly as mobile as I would like, but, OMG, so. much. better (ish). BUT, although mostly mobile, I felt I should spend most of the weekend resting.  Which I did.  It was lovely. Mike (Who Makes Cakes) came over Friday evening for a little while. On Sat...

Week(End) Update: Worst Week(End) EVER Edition

Image
Good morning, Kittens! As you may recall from my last post, I did something to my back.  Well, it still hurts ... I did manage to go to work yesterday for a half-day.  It was awful.  Fortunately, my client and program managers are allowing me to work from home for the rest of this week.  Yay!  "Work"  from home. Anyway, I didn't post much last week, because there wasn't much to post.  I mostly stayed in bed staring at the ceiling fan.  I am very lucky to have good neighbors who checked in on me frequently to make sure I was eating and staying hydrated.  On Thursday, the SuperSweet K picked up spinach enchiladas from El Golfo for me for dinner.  (Of course, the next day, he came down with the flu.  Apparently, my bad luck is contagious.) Friday is when the real fun started.  That night we had a HUGE storm.  Thunder.  Lightning.  Very very frightening.  And, the power went out with a BZZZT. And the p...

Weekend Update: Percoset-Infused Vodka Was a Bad Idea Edition

Image
Good Morning, Kittens! As you may remember, I was surgered on Friday. Everything seems to have happened as planned. I spent most of Friday and Saturday and Sunday popping pills and sleeping. On the plus side, this surgery does not seem as bad. So, fingers crossed that the recovery will happen more quickly than last time. During the times I was awake over the weekend, I managed to spend lots of money! Yay! I registered for the Spring semester of pottery class. And, then, I bought a bus and train ticket to Philadelphia to go to a Holiday Party (I'm hoping I feel better by then, but if not, I should be able to exchange them for later dates). And, then, Mush sent me a Barnes & Noble gift card so I went shopping for Nook Books. Yay! And, that's about it. Other than sleeping. Eating. Drinking. and Slightly Painful Pooping. Great weekend. Have a wonderful Monday. I'm off all week! *smooches*

Weekend Update: The Case of the Disappearing Date Edition

Image
Good Memorial Day Morning, Kittens. So far this has been possibly the worst 4-day weekend EVER. Luckily it has been punctuated by some bright moments of fun as well. To start off, my Thursday night date with J was postponed (who's surprised?) because Awards Night at his school did not finish until late. We talked that night and he would be through with work around 2 on Friday. That would be perfect, because I was getting my hair cut/colored and would finish around 3. We planned to meet in Cleveland Park to catch a movie, Pirates of the Caribbean 4 . Well, around noon he texts, then calls, saying he might have to help set up for graduation ... or he might not. Maybe he can get out of it. He'd let me know. Later, he texts and says he couldn't get out of it. So, he wouldn't be done until 5 or 6. Boo. Which was fine. After my hair was finished, I went to AU to hang out with Mike (Who Makes Cakes). We chatted until 5, and then headed to Nellie's to meet up wit...

Week(end) Update: Silk Purse Edition

Image
Good Evening, Kittens. I know. I know. I have been remiss in my blogging duties. BUT, I have a good excuse: Life sucks. And who wants to hear bad news?* ANYWAY, so things with J have been in a holding pattern whilst he recovers from a rather unpleasant illness ... which explains why he was AWOL for the past week. I have learned that, when someone to whom I am becoming emotionally attached drops off the face of the planet, I become a Crazy Stress Monster. Combine that with a Helluva Shitstorm happening at work (that may -or may not- involve me leaving my position .... mostly b/c I am tired of dealing with the crap ... but I have to find another job first. Tricky) and you have someone (meaning me) who spent the latter part of the week and most of the weekend in a boozy boozy haze of booziness (not during the workday, mind you. just after work). On the plus side, out of desperation sprung a fantastic new (to me) cocktail. A riff on Gayprof's fab Tequila Gimlet (2 oz tequila, ...

Oh, Look Who It Is.

It's me, the Was Too Blah to Blog One. Can I blame Post-Fabulous Vacation Blahs? Or, maybe, I should blame Julie & Julia , which I started reading last night. So far, it's not awful. But, it's one of those books that makes me think, "Where are my book options? Why isn't my life publishable?" It's not that I feel that I could write better than she did, but I couldn't write anything worse. Heck, I don't need a movie deal. Ok, maybe I do. But, still, it amplified the Unemployment Why Won't Anyone Hire Me Funk, fer sure. I was thinking of going out tonight, but have decided that I don't dislike anyone enough to subject them to This Mood ... So, it's an evening of Martinis, Movies, and Me tonight. Oh. I haz all teh funz. Tomorrow, I have to do a lot of cleaning. I decided to allow Y to rent my spare room (for $500/month). I know it will be stressful and annoying, but I can use the moneys. I have to clean out the spare room and m...
