Have Yourself a Merry Little Xmas

Good Evening, Kittens. Well, I did it. I finished StickSteven 2009 Year in Review: Better Late Than Never Edition . I have emailed a high resolution image to people I thought might like to have it. If you didn't get one, it's possibly b/c I don't have your email address ... or I somehow skipped over your name. Drop me an email or leave a comment and I'll get one to you tout de suite . Although, since I am not traveling with Iris the Netbook tomorrow and I'm leaving v. early in the morning, it might not be as tout de suite as one would like. Apologies. There is a crappy digicamera pic on flickr. Meanwhile, I think I'm coming down with a cold. Joy. Fortunately, Manhattans are good for colds, right? OK. I guess that's it. I'll be updating twitter/facebook from my phone. I may be able to respond if my brother has connected the internet in the new house. We shall see ... Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it. To those of you who don...

I'll Be Home for Xmas Eve *sigh*

Good Afternoon, Kittens. Here's a photo of a cute guy I saw on Metro this morning: The book he's reading is called "Holographic" (or something like that) ... Science Fiction maybe? We had early release today. Yay! I finished work at noon. And, I'm off tomorrow. Hurrah! Who wants to play? And, by "play" I mean "do my laundry" and "wash my sink full of dirty dishes" and maybe even "cook me dinner." Anyway, yesterday, I had a date with this guy, the Canadian. We have been communicating for awhile but have never been able to meet because of conflicting schedules. We went to Helix Lounge. It was fun. Good conversation. A couple of drinks. Decent food. Not a bad evening. Once home, I shot him a short email saying I made it home, had a good time, would like to see him again at some point. This morning I got the reply: "It was nice meeting you. Have yourself a merry little Christmas." Um. What? Brush off? ...

Preview Time!

Good Morning Afternoon, Kittens. One of us couldn't get to sleep last night and, thus, is running a bit behind schedule today. I'm not sure what was the cause of the insomnia, other than my brain would not shut off. Not only was I thinking that I haven't applied to any jobs this week, but there was also an idea for a small part-time business floating in my head *and* I was thinking of the Nokia 6650 review that I need to write up *AND* I was on a Finally Completed the StickSteven 2008 Year in Review Holiday Letter High . Here's a preview: This year, I'm only sending it out electronically. I took a close look at my budget and decided that GIN was a better expense than STAMPS. Sorry. SCGB is taking it to school today for scanning (pdf vs. jpg? who knows?). I've been making lists and lists of Good Little Boys and Girls who will receive the letter. I'm sure you are on it. Today, must do laundry. And, then, the neighbors are gathering at McGinty's for bevera...

Sugar Overload

Last night, my neighbor, Kristi, stopped by. "I've been baking cookies all day with a friend. Please eat some." And, did we ever eat "some." If you define "some" as "so many cookies that it makes your head explode." And, I still have some more. Which I'm thinking of having for breakfast! Homemade peanut butter cookies + coffee = Breakfast of Champions The job search is not going well so far this week. Hopefully, by tomorrow, I'll have found 2 jobs to apply for. On the plus side, I've been determined to be "eligible" for a government job I applied to about a month ago. It's not a job I particularly want, nor is it with an agency I particularly like, but a job is a job. Hm. Other things I accomplished yesterday ... I'm almost finished with the right front pocket shaping on the Never-Ending Cardigan of Doom, Take 2. Once the raglan decreases start, the front knits super quick. After finishing the front, all I will h...

The Weather is Not Being Helpful

Good Morning, Kittens! Yesterday, I started my StickSteven 2008 Year in Review Holiday Letter ( You can see the previous years' letters here ). The odd thing is that the only drawing so far that is remotely cute/funny is the drawing for the month in which the worst things happened. I suppose it lends credence to the theory that humor helps us get over things. I also made BOSSY Broth. Here is the strained broth photo: I have lots of broth in the freezer now. I also took about a cup or so, brought it to a boil, cooked some udon noodles in it, and then added a squirt of chili sauce (the Vietnamese sauce that has the rooster on the bottle. I can't remember what it's called). Delicious! Then, I watched The Lost Language of Cranes . I may have a longer post about this in the future (but probably not). But, let's just say that watching this movie on PBS when it debuted in the US helped shape a lot of my ideas about being gay. After that, I headed over to my across-the-hall ne...

But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. -- King James Version It went well. And, in other news ... there is no other news. I am being inefficient with my use of time. I am unable to purchase the Kiva gift certificates for my parents for their Christmas gifts. Frustrating unresponsive website. GAH. I wonder if I should just buy them a llama or something from Heifer International ... My apartment is a disaster, the flotsam and jetsam of my life are scattered about the various rooms (except the spare room, which is staying remarkably clean-ish. Perhaps, because I haven't formed the habit of using it yet). Since today is laundry day, I will attempt to clean and tidy and organize. And, I'm still having difficulty finding appropriate boxes for some prezzies. If all goes well, I should be able to finish that tonight and mail the last of the goodies tomorrow. *crosses fingers* I'm thinking about participating in the 12 of 12 photo thingy today. I snapped ...
