It's Been Awhile

Image
Good Friday Evening! It's been awhile since my last post ... and this is why: Why, yes, that is (errr ... was) my kitchen.  It is being renovated.  There has been drama, Drama, and DRAAAAAAAAMA.  And, that was all on Day 1.  BUT, I am saving those stories for a long post once everything is completed (hopefully soon!).  In the meantime ... Things with M (not the one in Vegas.  the one here) have been heating up. Last weekend, he rented a hotel room at Rouge in DC.  So, we checked in.  Had hot hotel sex.  Then,  we had dinner at Estadio (a tapas restaurant).  Then, we went back to the hotel and had more hot hotel sex.  Then, we went to sleep.  And, then, we woke up and had more hot hotel sex.  And, then, we had brunch.  Good times. We have talked about seeing how we get along with y'know not having hot sex and just conversing.  So, Monday (or was it Tuesday?), he asked if he could come over, and I...

A Lifetime of Nothing Special

Image
Good Friday Evening, Kittens!  I may not have had a lifetime of nothing special (yet), but this week was mostly nothing special ... with a few minor exceptions. On Tuesday, I met Eric (Not From Baltimore) for happy hour.  We went to Central.  I had a yummy cocktail.  It was like a French 75 (gin, champagne, lemon) with the addition of cucumber and Benedictine.  Tasty.  Boozy.  Durnk. On Wednesday, can you guess what I did?  I'll give you a hint:  It starts with an L and rhymes with "raundry." Then, on Thursday, I met D (the guy recently out of the 20 year relationship that went all batshit crazy on his ex.  Remember him?) for happy hour.  And, let's just say ... he's still crazy.  Of course, he still wants me.  But that shit ain't happenin'.  Really.  I don't need that kind of crazy in my life right now ... or ever.  I did have many many margaritas though.  and cheese dip.  And that's alw...

The Excitement of it All

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. I was supposed to go for a run this morning ... but, I thought I would wait until this evening to see if the Eye Candy was any better then. What can I say? I needz motivation. Yesterday was chock full of fun and excitement. I applied for a job or two. I vacuumed. I planted some lettuce. I walked to the Borders to "buy" (using my Borders Reward Certificates) Whitney's new album, but they either didn't have it or were sold out. So, I walked over to Adega, ordered a glass of prosecco, and watched Episode 2 of Mad Men (season 3). It was fabulous. But, I can't talk about it, because BOSSY isn't caught up. I came home. I had a martini (yay!). Then, I started thinking about dinner. I had pasta with tomato and spinach and my Gray Pesto. It was delicious. I think the secret to stellar pesto is to add a chili pepper. Nomz. I spent the rest of the evening knitting (see picture) and watching movies. And drinking wine. No real plan...

Purple Pesto

Image
Good morning, Kittens! This sudden cool spell we are having is not making my basil plants very happy. So last night, I made pesto. First, I made it with sweet basil. Yum. Although it was a bit too salty. Then, I decided to go all crazy and use purple basil. Surprise. Purple Basil Pesto is kinda gray (see photo). Here's what I did ... 1 cup purple basil leaves 2 cloves garlic 1 thai dragon chili pepper (green) approx 1/4 cup of grated fulvi romano approx 2 tbsp (maybe more) pepitas (pumpkin seeds) 1/3 cup olive oil salt and puree the livin' Hell out of it. The end. Although it looks a little unappetizing, it tastes pretty good. Not much else happened. I did some co-op board stuff. I called about a job. I knitted. I watched movies. I had Martini Time. Typical day in the life. I didn't watch the Mad Men episodes. Might do that today. No other plans. Maybe laundry. Oh, I haz teh exciting life. Have a great day. *smooches*

Weekend Update: Minty Edition

Image
Good Morning, Kittens! Happy Monday! My weekend was filled with mint, bourbon, knitting and rain! I know! So much fun! So, lessee ... Friday night, after my date canceled, I was settling in for a solitary night at home, but -lo and behold!- a neighbor invited me over for a fun-filled evening of margaritas and Trivial Pursuit. Good times. Srsly. Saturday, after hearing on NPR that it was Kentucky Derby Day, I decided to make Mint Juleps. However, I had no mint and no bourbon. Fortunately, a good friend saw my Facebook status update and personally delivered some mint from his yard. And took me out to lunch ... where I ran into CNTBD. Always good to see him. After lunch, we headed back to my place to watch movies and drink mint juleps! Hurrah! We watched Breach (about the Robert Hansen spy case) with Laura Linney and Ryan Phillipe. It was much better than I expected. And, as an added bonus, I knat quite a bit on my First Ever Sock (version 2.0). For those of you who are won...

For Want of a Clever Title

Image
My fun evening activities last night: 1. Laundry. Two Loads. 2. Making the bed (Clean sheets! w00t!). 3. Cooking Thai Green Curry. 4. Putting away laundry. 5. Going to bed. Where did the evening go? I felt like I didn't even get to relax? How did that happen? Y came over for dinner. He was too tired to do anything other than sleep on the sofa. What is it about IT people and their nocturnal ways? Does it have something to do with network traffic being slower at night? This morning, I strained the blueberries out of the blueberry-infused vodka: Blast off! More later, kittens. *smooches*

The Rest of the Story

Image
(Not the rest of the Ture Story , that's finished, over, done, kaput! ... This is the rest of what I did yesterday, because I know you all find my life terribly exciting and you wish you were me, and, if I didn't tell you what I did yesterday (and this morning!), you don't know how you would be able to continue plodding through the drudgery of your lives ... or my life ... whatever.) Yesterday, I did laundry. I ate soup. I knitted the Never-Ending Afghan of Doom. I watched Hollywoodland . [Adrien Brody is *so* dreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeamy.] I drank a bit too much wine. I went to bed. This morning, I came to work. I blogged. I went to the bank. I deposited my check! I made a donation at Heifer International in honor of Pacalaga . $100 sure does buy a lot. I bought honeybees ! and a couple of seedlings ! and a part of a knitting basket ! Perhaps, you, too, might want to consider making a donation . A little good goes a long way. I told Y that I would go to some LGBT event at UMD ...

Mystery. Intrigue.

After sending an email this morning regarding this evening's events, I get a text message from Mike asking me if I could arrive early. Of course, I say I can, and then my mind starts processing all sorts of loopy possibilities ... Why did he send it by text message? Why didn't he simply reply to the email? Why does he want me there before everyone else? To help out? To yell at me? To pass on secret information? To pump me for information? WHY? The mind boggles. I wonder ... I wonder ... PS. Let's hope it's for the ... er ... "pumping."

Whole Lotta Nothing Going On

Last night, I knitted. I ate. I drank. I chatted. And I watched Good Night and Good Luck . My life. It is filled with the fun and excitement. This morning, I couldn't motivate myself to go running. It's so much easier when Y stays over, because I don't like to hit snooze 47 times for fear of disturbing him. When the alarm goes off, I get up, turn it off, and go running. This morning, I hit snooze 47 times. At least I have some fun things planned for this weekend ... tonight, I am going to a birthday happy hour. Then, I am meeting a friend for dinner [Y may join for that, not sure though]. Tomorrow, I have a hair appointment. Cut only. No color this time. Then, I am having a few friends over for cocktails in the early evening, followed by dinner in hip and happening downtown Silver Spring ... maybe Mandalay (yummy Burmese food). After dinner, we might head back to my place to watch DVDs ... or we could go out somewhere. No plans yet for Sunday. More later, kittens.
