Weekend Update: The Best Day of the Year Edition

Image
Hello, Kittens! I hope you all remembered that Monday was the Best Day of the Year!  And, I had a super-fantastic 4-day weekend to celebrate it! On Friday, I picked up the rental car and, after running a few errands (in which a "few errands" means "eating lunch and buying booze"), I drove to pick up Mike (Who Makes Cakes).  Then, we drove to pick up my cuddly little boo bear, M. And, then, we all drove to Virginia Beach. It. Took. For. EVER! Once we arrived, we checked in to our fabulous resort hotel and, then, went out to dinner. I may have had a few cocktails. Then, Mike (Who Makes Cakes) and I chilled in the hotel bar, whilst M (who may have had a few too many cocktails) went to bed.  Boo Bear just can't hang with the big boys ;-)  LOLz. Saturday was ABSO-fucking-LUTELY gorgeous.  After breakfast, we walked to the Virginia Beach Convention Center so I could pick up my (and Tomokito's) Shamrock Half Marathon runner's packets. Mike (Wh...

The News Has Been Spread

It's the recap you've all been waiting for - VUBOQ Does New York! I arrived at Penn Station a little before 3PM. I had to take the subway to Alison's office to pick up her apartment key. Then, I headed to her fabulous apartment in the Upper East Side. I spent the rest of the afternoon wandering through Central Park. Hot men! Jogging! *woot* Later, I met Jake for dinner. We went to an Indian restaurant, Haveli . It was OK. The pistachio ice cream was yummy, though. Mmm. After dinner, we went to a bar, Eastern Bloc . Very cute. Soviet-era decor. Decent happy hour drinks. Yay. The next day (Halloween), I went down to Lower Manhattan to see the sights - Trinity Church, the New York Stock Exchange, the Federal Reserve, etc. etc. etc. I also stopped by Century 21, the discount store. Ack! Shopping stress! People who wouldn't get out of my way. It was not a fun time. After checking out the World Financial Center's big glassed in pavilion, I headed to SoHo to meet Jake for ...

NYC Photos

For now, here are some pix . Must get ready for happy hour now! *smooches*

OMG! NYC!

SEIZURES! BEER BATHS! Walking 'til my feets fell off ... AND MORE! Can you stand it? Details coming soon, kittens!

Doot. Doot. Doo-da-Doot.

Start spreading the news! I'm leaving tomorrow! I want to be a part of it. New York! New York! My train departs at 11:30(?). I arrive at Penn Station sometime before 3. Try not to miss me. I'll be crying a little every night because I won't be blogging. Until I return on Friday, around noon. Then you will be treated to a New York Photo Extravaganza Special Edition! *woot* Unless I forget to take my camera ... Anyway, until Friday, kittens. *smooches*

At This Stage of the Game, I'm Surprisingly Well-Prepared

Are you sick of me rambling about the 6th Annual BYOP Pumpkin Carving Party yet? Too bad! I swear, this will be the next-to-last entry. Or the next-to-next-to-last entry. What's the word that means that? Penultimate? Excuse me, while I go consult with Merriam. It would seem that penultimate means "next to last." Is there a word that means the one before that? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? So, last night I was Super Busy. I made syrup. I made chili. I cleaned. I organized. I arranged (and rearranged. and rearranged again.). I put together an iTunes Party Playlist. I vaccuumed the friggin' sofa, for Pete's Sake (the things I do for my friends with cat allergies)! I decided not to make the punch, because I didn't think there would be room in the fridge for it. I will make it this evening. Today, I'm going to pick up a 6-pack of beer, a bottle of white wine, and a bag of pretzels. Hopefully, there will be enough food. If not, the kittens wil...

Destination: Unknown

OK, Kittens ... VUBOQ has scheduled vacation time from October 27-November 4. However, he can't leave until the 28th, unless he reschedules his Saturday hair appointment (cut and color! woot!). This morning, rather than work on a project due on Monday, I checked ticket prices to various cities I would like to visit, and, GAH! London $1000! Tokyo $1500! , it looks like VUBOQ will be staying on the American Continent. Here are the 10 cities I checked out: Detroit/ Ann Arbor (SuperFantastic Cuzin! GayProf!): $139 San Diego (Pandas!): $183 Las Vegas (Casinos! Barry Manilow!): $214 Santa Fe/Albuquerque (Adobe! Chili Peppers!): $230 Boise (Potatoes! Larry Craig!): $240 Seattle (Rain!): $244 San Francisco (Teh Gayz!): $257 Toronto (Bala Wala Shi!): $390 Vancouver (Mounties!): $421 Oaxaca (Pottery!): $481 I really don't want to pay more than $300 for a ticket, especially if I'm going to have to pay for a hotel room as well. Of course, there is always the Scary Chin...

Like MacArthur

I have returned. Many exciting adventures were had. Here are few video clips: NASCAR-themed restaurant at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (where I got to spend lots and lots and lots of time on Friday evening): Hello, Sailor (also at CDIA): At Christal's palatial estate: Random photos have been uploaded to flickr .

Georgia on My Mind

Kittens! In just a few short very long hours, I will be winging my way to the Peach State ... the home of CNN ... Coca-Cola ... and my friend, Christal (of whom, for some reason, I don't have a picture on my work computer). I leave work today at 2:30, metro to BWI Airport, board a 5:15 flight to Charlotte, layover for an hour [or so], and then fly to HOT-lanta , arriving around 9:15. FUN! Apparently, we have an itinerary. All I know is Saturday morning we are going to the Farmer's Market! Fresh! Veggies! And, then, in the evening, we are headed to Halo , which coincidentally is the name of my fave bar in DC. *heh* I'll be back on Monday (but not at work) with Tall Tales to tell! *smooches*

Sir Robin Ran Away

I woke up a little cranky this morning. Actually, that's not true. I felt fine when I woke up, but, since leaving Y's home, the crankiness has grown and spread, filling every nook and cranny of my being. The overly cheery co-workers are really grating on my nerves right now. I'm not sure why I'm cranky. Actually, that's not true either. I know exactly why I'm cranky. For one, I don't sleep well at Y's. He is a night-owl, studying until 2:30 or 3 every morning. I don't really fall into a restful sleep until he joins me in bed. I have to get up at 6 to make it to work on time. He gets to sleep for another 3.5 to 4 hours. Two, work has been a total pain lately. Summer is supposed to be relaxing, but, with everyone taking off (and some not coming back when they are scheduled), those of us who remain have to pick up the slack. I really need a vacation. My mini-vakay to Atlanta this weekend should be fun. And, I am looking forward to my week ...

Independenced Out

Tuesday ... after work, I went home, gave the cat lots of food and water, packed an overnight bag, and headed over to Y's. On the way, I stopped at the Whole Paycheck to buy the fixin's for pasta salad. I got to Y's around 6ish. We fooled around. I took a nap. Around 10, we headed into the District to meet Tomoko. Mike decided not to join us because he was feeling fat. Whatevs. We met Tomoko at Cobalt around 10:45, but -because of that club's mysterious shoe policy- they would not admit her. According to Darryl (who I saw at the BBQ yesterday), spiked heels are weapons. Of course, I was thinking "Isn't the knife in my sock more dangerous than a 1-inch heel?" Anyway, the bouncer at the door said to Tomoko, "You can go down to CVS and buy flip-flops." Tomoko, with a look of absolute horror on her face replied, "I'd rather go home than wear flip-flops." [or something to that effect] She turned and left. And, now, I could insert a rant ...
