Good Morning, Kittens. Last night, my mother called me. She had bad news. I guessed it immediately. Gertrude, Isabella's bitchy younger sister, was put down. She had been withering away slowly since January. Losing weight. Not eating. Being all listless. Which, if you'd ever met Gertrude, you knew "listless" was not in her vocabulary. I was going to link to the post of the story of how FrankenKitty Gertrude came into our lives, but I realized that it must have been prior to my switch to blogger ... Possibly the Summer of 2005 ... A friend of mine sent out an email saying that she had a friend who worked in the animal labs at George Washington University. And they had a cat there, who was originally purchased for some testing, but then funds ran out. They kept her around for awhile, making her a lab "pet" ... but, eventually, they had to get rid of her. If they couldn't find a good home, she was going to be put down. Good Morning, Kittens! This is Jasha. He's a kitten, too. Jasha is Ray's cute little ball of Russian Blueness. The reason Jasha has taken up residence in BOSSY's Guest Room is because Ray is moving to a new apartment. Until Ray gets settled, Jasha will be with me ... and Isabella. Although the whole Jasha/Isabella introduction thing? Not going very well. Of course, it's not going horribly either (need I remind you of the Gertrude/Isabella disaster?). So, my weekend ... New Year's Eve was quiet. I had the final happy hour of 2009 with Tomokito and SCGB in his apartment. I decided not to go to the party with ScooterGuy, because the weather was crappy. Later, I watched the ball drop with Tomokito and her husband. Then, I returned to my apartment to drink champagne and watch Mad Men . New Year's Day, I did lots of blobbing around the house in the morning. In the late afternoon, I headed over to Ray's apartment to help him pack and to pick up Jasha. ...

Good Morning, Kittens. So my exciting adventure started Monday afternoon, with Isabella running to the window and staring into the garden. Then, I heard it: the pathetic cry of a tired little animal. I looked out the window, following Isabella's gaze, and spotted a cute little black kitty being all loud and mewing. Quickly assessing the situation, I grabbed two plastic containers, filled one with water and the other with a little bit of dry cat food. The Kitty attacked the food. Poor hungry kitty. But, she was very friendly and not scared of me. So, I knew she wasn't feral. I figured she must have escaped from a nearby home. I went to pottery class. When I returned, the little kitty ran out of the bushes to meet me. I gave her some more food and checked Craigslist to see if anyone was reporting a little lost kitty. No such luck. Heather called to ask me if I had seen this stray cat. I said yes and asked her if the kitty were still around the next morning (and I could ...

How does one properly celebrate the day in which teh Jews killed Our One True Lord and Saviour, the Lamb of God? I figure one should go to happy hour and get hammered ... ... As some of you may remember, I was the loving gay uncle to John's dog, Oscar, who we picked out at the Washington Animal Rescue League . Somehow, I ended up on their email list and ocassionally get requests for donations. If I have some spare pennies, I try to give. I mean, really, they provided a safe, loving space for Oscar, the Demondog Puppy from Hell. They can use all the help they can get. There’s a disease outbreak plaguing dogs on the Eastern Seaboard, and our Medical Center has found itself right on the front lines of the battle. The disease is called parvovirus. It’s truly frightening, especially for puppies, for whom the disease is always fatal without treatment. Look! It's a knitten, kittens! Well, at least it's a knitten cuff, kittens! Yeah ... I've been busy at work today. Yessirree ... I've finished the cuff of knitten #1, using the wool I bought in Scotland. *woot* And, notice the weird way the fluorescent lights have reflected off my ghostly pale skin to make it seem like my hand has disappeared. Gotta love pale white boys, yes you do.
