Weekend Update:MLK Edition

Good Morning, Kittens!
Happy Martin Luther King Day! I hope you are going to do something special in his memory.

I am going out for boozy margarita lunch with my neighbors. What? What's that you say? Not very MLK Day appropriate? I disagree. MLK was all about fostering community and good neighborly relations, right? Right?

As for the past few days ...

On Friday, I was supposed to meet Eric Not From Baltimore for happy hour. However, he called and said that he had to work late (we've rescheduled for this evening, actually). I was bummed. Luckily, my co-worker said she was willing to have a couple of happy hours with me. We ended up at Austin Grill in Downtown Silver Spring.

We ended up very happy.

Then, I staggered home and watched a movie - "Attack the Block." It was really good. B grade alien invasion movie, but made one provocatively question their ideas about race, poverty, and community.

On Saturday, I went for a 6.2 mile run. Later that evening, I had a date with R. We went to Pizzeria Paradiso. The food was good. He's a nice guy, but really no chemistry. I think we could be friends though. After I got home, I was texting with V and he asked, "Would you like some company?"

Of course, I would like some company.

He came over and we had fun times on the sofa. Yay!

Sunday morning, I was slow to wake up. I did some house-cleaning, and, then, I wandered up to Adega for Boozy Lunch.

I wore some socks that I knitted awhile back and had never worn before:

Cute, no? Unfortunately, Very Itchy. I am a bit sensitive to wool, it seems. *ugh*

After lunch, I wandered down the street to CitySports, where I dropped about $200 on cold weather running clothes. See, I have decided to cancel my gym membership (which I hardly ever use), thus saving $61/month (which can then be spent on expensive running gear). Yay!

Here I am modeling the supertight Under Armour compression shirt:

*gasps for breath*

After shopping, I came home, put in a DVD, and ironed a metric shit ton of shirts for work. Then, I set about making a (quite delicious, if I do say so myself) Thai-inspired Butternut Squash Soup. See:

Dinner is served!Say Hello to Chef's Little Helper

This morning, I tried out the new cold weather running gear. 3.51 miles in 32 minutes. Not too shabby. And the Brooks Utopia Thermal Pants are friggin' amazing. Yay!

Have a great day!

  1. Runners have great bodies, IMHO.

    Enjoy the holiday.
