The Aftermath of the Day of the Valentine

Image
Hello, Kittens! I hope you all had a blissfully romantic Valentine's Day, full of hearts and flowers and chocolates and glitter and sparkles and rainbows and unicorns and topped off with a night of hot VD buttsecks. Perhaps, I should rephrase that last bit .... At least you should consider yourself lucky because, unlike my superfab co-worker, your bf of 3 years didn't give you a Starbucks giftcard (and you don't really drink coffee/go to Starbucks). Menz. Sometimes they are stoopid. As for me, I had a lovely Valentine's Day, celebrating the person I love the most (here's a hint. It's me). When I got home from work, I went for a run. 3.35 miles in 29:01. Go me! Then, I had a martini (mmmm) and samples the Cheddar/Chocolate cheese . It was not awful. In fact, I imagine that it would be even tastier melted ... like in a grilled cheese or as a fondue. As I drank martini and sampled cheese, I also made a Valentine's Day card for M. It was cute. And had he...

Weekend Update: Valentine's Edition

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. Hope you had a brilliant weekend. Mr. Fantastic and I are off to see Avatar (in 3-D) with K-Factor and one of her many friends in a little while. Our weekend was awesome. Saturday, we had dinner at the Quarry House and, then, watched the Star Wars Trilogy (Episodes 4-6) with SCGB. Sunday morning, I helped a neighbor shovel out our trash dumpster. Then, Mr. Fantastic gave me some Valentine's presents ... Chocolates! And a double-headed diamond-studded 12 inch dildo (not pictured). Later that afternoon, we headed up to K-Factor's for champagne and truffles. Yum. And, then, I cooked dinner: Potato Leek Soup and Wild Mushroom Ragout over toasted baguette. Tasty! And, then, there was more movie watching. Have a great day! *smooches*

Weekend Update: Lots of Luv Edition

Good Morning, Kittens! Hope you had a fabulous Valentine's Day full of hearts and flowers and little naked cupids (or big naked studmuffins)! On Thursday, since I neglected to tell you about that, Eric from Baltimore came down. We met Ray at Alero in Dupont Circle and had many many margaritas. Then, we went to Cobalt and had many many vodka cranberries. Then, we staggered home. Here we are in the Metro Station: Can you spot the cute French guy? Friday, I had to run errands, do some Board stuff, and was forced to treat myself to lunch at Adega: Then, I ran more errands ... including trying to find some sake for Valentine's Day. I did not have any luck. The sake was either too expensive or not good quality. *sigh* That evening, I went to a party hosted by the German's girlfriend, who is totally fierce (and has a super cool apartment in upper NW DC). Here's a photo of the neighbors who were there (I sort of remember this picture being taken): Home. Very Late. Saturday. Ver...
Good Morning, Kittens. Oh, the best laid plans of mice and men ... they get gang aft a'gleyed all over the place. Carolyn and I decided that it was too cold to go out for happy hour drinks. Instead, I invited her over for wine and leftover soup. Unfortunately, she got off work late and, then, had a crappy commute. Plus, she was a little tired from a work trip in AZ. So, my happy reunion with Carolyn was cancelled. Wah. We did have a good nearly hour-long phone conversation though. Of course, because my friends have this amazing ability to sense when I have already made plans, I received two invites to do other things, which I turned down: a free ticket to the symphony and a dinner/drinks gathering at Nellie's. *sigh* I ended up staying in, eating leftover soup (yum!), drinking wine, and watching Season 1 of Rick & Steve (the Happiest Gay Couple in the World). It was cute. And sometimes funny. Lessee ... tonight, I'm cooking dinner for [Clever Nickname TBD] at ...

The Hair Up There

Image
I got my hair did for Valentine's Day. Hurrah! I luvs the day I have my hair did. After that, I no longer have the desire to blowdry and fluff and style and wax and spike and primp, and my hair returns to it's natural state of disorder and clumpiness with random hairs sticking off in random directions (see photo). I do have some photos of my hair actually styled and looking a little over halfway decent, but those pics are on my digicam and have yet to be uploaded. Patience, grasshoppers. I was going to do a BOSSYesque Going to Get My Hair Did entry, but after reading hers , I thought, "*meh* Too complicated. Too time-consuming. Best not to raise my readers' expectations or I'll have to crank out well-organized, thoughtful entries all the time ." And who wants to do that? After the Hair Adventure, I met Y at a cute little Thai restaurant in Woodley Park, Jandara. I have always *heart*ed Jandara. My cousin and I used to eat there a lot. They make this yummy ent...

Heart-Shaped Biscuits

When I was a child, every Valentine’s Day morning, my mother, a notorious non-morning person, would pull herself out of bed to make us a special breakfast. Nestled among the eggs and bacon or the pancakes and sausage, we would always find a couple of heart-shaped biscuits. That’s what I remembered as I wandered through the Whole Foods, surrounded by men buying bunches of organic roses, 2 dozen for $49.99! As I stood in the busy lunchtime checkout line watching the man in front of me buying chocolate-dipped strawberries, brie, and a baguette, I remembered my mom’s crinkly-edged biscuits, cut in half with a little pool of butter melting slowly in the center, I saw men trying desperately, at the last minute, to buy a little romance along with their Vitamin Water and Free Range Roast Chicken Sandwiches with Chipotle Mayo. Maybe they can purchase a rose-filled, chocolate-dipped romantic evening, but where is the love? Can they put that on their VISA Debit Cards? As for me, I know where the ...

Little Flashing Lights

The annoying flashing L-shaped lights are back, interrupting my vision and making it hard to blog. I wonder if they're work-related, these ophthalmic migraines. I only seem to get them here. I'm a little peeved because I forgot my lunch today. Grrr. I realized it about halfway to work. I rode the bus, rather than attempting to sledge through the crispy ice mounds covering most of the sidewalks, so there was no turning back for the hummus and spinach sandwich on sourdough bread still sitting on my counter. Alas. My Valentine's evening was good. My upstairs neighbor invited me to have dinner with her, her boyfriend, her roommate, and another neighbor. It was quite nice. Good food. Lots of wine. Interesting conversation. A fun time was had by all. Or at least me. And in the end, that's all that really matters. *heh* Hm. I can't really see anything out of my right eye now. Kind of sucky, that is. My only plans tonight are to do laundry and make experime...

From My Pussy to Yours ...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! *heart* *heart* *smooch* We have, like, 2 thousand inches of ice/sleet/snow wintry mix and I don't have to go into work until 10:30. *woot* I wonder if my class will meet tonight?
