Catching Up

Good Evening, Kittens. I can't even remember the last time I posted. I don't think it was *that* long ago.  So over Memorial Day weekend, the BF (yes, over the weekend, we DTR'ed*) and I went to Pittsburgh (of all places) and Fallingwater.  Pittsburgh was surprisingly not awful.  We had good food.  Our hotel was nice (but I seem to have left a pair of chinos there).  People were friendly, which -being from the decidedly not very friendly DC/Metro Area- was a little disconcerting.  We adapted. Here are some of my favorite pix (Have I mentioned how much I dislike Flickr's new interface?) ... There are more pix available on the Flickrz . After we returned from the trip, we got into a bit of a rather stupid spat.  It was all his fault, of course.  We didn't speak for several days (because he needed "time to think").  Finally, he admitted he was wrong.  And we spent most of this past weekend having very hot (and sweaty) but...

Weekend Update: Elon Edition

Image
Good Evening, Kittens! Pottery class has ended for the session ... the final Glaze Firing still hasn't happened.  I hope to have some Pottery Pictures (and possibly some Pottery to Give Away) for you by the end of this week.  We'll see ... I don't have much confidence in the speedy work ethics of the new pottery studio manager. ANYWAY, no class tonight means I have time to update you on my SuperFun, sex-filled weekend in the booming metropolis of Elon (and Burlington), NC. A couple of weeks ago, I received an invitation to a former professor's retirement celebration at my alma mater, Elon University.  I was surprised that she remembered me, and I needed a little get-away, so I rented a car, booked a hotel, took Friday off work, and drove down to North Carolina. I may (or may not) have had a certain someone come along with me ... Friday, we slept a little later than usual, and, then, headed out to pick up the rental. Driving is stressful, but, at least, I am...

Philadelphia: Gelato Edition

Image
Good Morning, Kittens! As you may recall, I am on a kind of Work Hiatus, which, I just found out has been extended to -possibly- April 16th. WTF ... but, today, is not the day to focus on the clusterfuckery that is my job. That will come later. I promise. Anyway, so during this Hiatus, I decided to take a little trip to PHILADELPHIA!!!! I love the City of Brothers Who Love. Mostly, because I have some SuperCool Friends there. BUT, also, because it has really good food and gelato and interesting buildings and history and cobblestones and lots and lots of very hot men. So, I departed my abode early Wednesday morning, boarded a MegaBus, and was off! I arrived at 30th Street Station around 1:30. I met Lora at Parc for a late (and very boozy) lunch. Then, we walked over to my hotel, the Latham , so I could check in. The ceiling in my bathroom was mirrored (well, reflective). This cracked us up. See? Lora had to go back to work (or something). I took a nap. Around 5:30, I heade...

Week Update: Michigan Editigan

Image
Good Morning, Kittens! I am back from a fabulous few booze- and food-filled days visiting my fantastic cousin (and cousin-in-law) *and* GayProf in the Great Frozen Tundra ... where actually (and luckily) it was quite mild, temperature-wise. My arrival to the Frozen Tundra was uneventful. Suzanne picked me up at the airport around noon. I was still in the throes of the Worst Cold Ever, so we worked on rearranging our plans to hang out in Detroit that evening. Instead, Detroit came to us! Several of Suzanne and GayProf's friends joined us for dinner. We made chili. GayProf brought cornbread. We drank LOTS of wine. On Sunday, Suzanne and I wandered around the town. We ate lunch/brunch at Seva, a vegetarian restaurant. And, then, toured Suzanne's workplace, the Kelsey Museum . (They've recently undergone a HUGE renovation project ... and need to update their website). Later that afternoon, GayProf came over and we had cocktails (!) and played this superfun game, RoboRa...

Cuz + GayProf = Perfect Vacation

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. As you are reading this, I am heading to the airport. Yesterday afternoon, after I got home from another fabulous time with the Cuz and the GayProf , I went online to check my flight status and it said: CANCELLED!!!! (because of weather). I called the airline and they couldn't rebook me on a direct flight to DC until today. Extra Time with the Cuz! It is awesome! So, anyway, here's the rundown of my SuperFun Vacation ... I arrived on Thursday. The Cuz picked me up at the airport. We got to her house and had cocktails. Yay. Later, GayProf, who only lives a few blocks away (!), came over for dinner. We had lots of wine and pizza on the grill. And tiramisu. The next day, GayProf came over for lunch - leftover salad and prosecco. Then, we drove over to the Arboretum. It was lovely. See: Nature red in tooth and claw. We left the Arboretum to meet the Cuz, the Cuz-in-law, and some of the Cuz's co-workers/friends at Aut Bar, the gay bar in Mid...

Weekend Update: Wait 'til I Get Home Edition

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. It's my last day in the Midwestern Funky Town. I'm meeting the SuperFantastic Cuzin and the GayProf for lunch later. Not sure if the SuperFantastic Cuzin-in-Law is coming with us. I'm flying out around 6 this evening. And will probably be back home around 9. I'll fill you in on all the exciting trip details tomorrow ... until then, here are a few pictures: Kitteh! GayProf! (I really like this picture. My guess is that he might try to exert some sort of editorial control.) SuperFantastic Cuzin Have a great day! *smooches*

Jet Plane. I'm Leaving on One.

Good Morning, Kittens! Yesterday was super fun. I spent about 30 minutes on hold with the unemployment office. Then, I had lunch with my neighbor. I cooked smothered squash with basil. After that, I did laundry and took a nap. AND, I got a fantabulous Unemploymentiversary present from Mush: Mad Men, Season 1 and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert . Yay! I have the most awesomest friends ever! Pottery class was good, too. I trimmed and attached handles to two mugs. And I did lots of glazing. Next week is the last class of the session. I don't have a lot to do, but will figure out some way to use all my clay. Today, I must pack. Because ... and this is so exciting ... I am flying to a Midwestern Funky Town to visit my superfantastic cuzin (and her husband), and I will meet (OMGz!) the Most Desirable Man on the Blogosphere . Couldn't you just die? I know I could. I can't wait. 4 days of fun, food, drink, knitting, movie-watching, catching-up, and maybe even a tri...

Happy Christmas Eve

Image
Dooby dooby do ... I'm back at work. It is full of teh suck. I'm taking a break from the working on the stupid weekly report to give you a rundown (sans pictures) of my exciting Pre-Xmas NC VayKay! Saturday morning (12/15), I got up well before God intended anyone to wake up, loaded the car, and hit the road (ow!). I drove pretty much non-stop from here to Boone, NC. It took about 7 hours. I arrived at Lori's house and we headed into town. Running errands and stuff. We ran into one of her friends, who joined us for a very late lunch. This friend is CUTE, gay, single, from the DC/metro area, and did I mention CUTE? Unfortunately, he is also very very young. Oh, well. What can I say? I'm an ageist. After lunch, Lori bought me a cute hat for Xmas. Then, we bought booze and headed to the homestead for a night of drinking and telly. Who says VUBOQ doesn't know how to Par-TAY? Sunday, it snowed and we shopped. At Blowing Rock's outlets, Shoppes on the P...

Christmas Eve Eve

Image
Here's a little photo essay from my trip. Details to come tomorrow ... possibly. I like to call this one OMFG I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE : (which is somewhere along the NC/VA western border, I think). Christmas Lights in a Boone Snowstorm. Sorry for the blurriness. It was cold. and, sorry for the friggin' WHITE-OUT!!! GAH!!! Stupid wind. My parents' Xmas Tree. Not as cute as the Purple Tinsel Tree but, at 8 feet tall, it's slightly taller. What tree isn't complete with Dried Okra Santa? SuperFantastic Cousin (and Cousin-Once-Removed) Cuter than Baby Jesus, bitches. One neighborhood in Greensboro has this weird habit of tossing lighted chicken wire balls into trees. EVERY TREE. Isa models her new Never-Ending Afghan of Doom The End. More later. *smooches*
