Weekend Update: Post Gorging Lethargy Edition

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. And so passeth another weekend. One in which I did not make it out to Da Clubz, mostly because (a) I am lazy and (b) it was Too Cold. BUT, on Saturday, I did get newly blonded. See: This is about all the skin you'll ever see (of mine) here. And, then, I walked from Dupont Circle to Mike's house to return a couple of dishes. On the way, I stopped off and bought Part 1 of my present for Josh's Bloggery Gift Exchange Thing. Once home, I blobbed around, not having any specific plans ... until I got asked out on a spur-of-the-moment date ;-) We met at Mandalay, the delicious Burmese restaurant in Silver Spring. We ate. We talked. We discovered we had a mutual friend/acquaintance. At the end of the date, he gave me a ride home on his scooter. So cute! I'm not sure how interested he is. We'll see ... Sunday noonish, I had another date. This one did not go as well. He was, um, odd ... and awkwardly fidgety. I think he was expecting to com...

A Thanksgiving to Remember

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. Yesterday was certainly a full day (pun totally intended, yo). It started bright and early, as the neighbors and the lovely and talented, Ms. Clio Bluestocking , gathered at 7:25AM to drive to Bethesda for the 27th Annual Turkey Chase. Originally, we had planned to run the 10K, but -under my inspired leadership-, the entire group chickened (turkeyed?) out and ran the 2 Mile Fun Run. The line to pickup packets was Crazy Long and made no sense. For the 2 mile run, there were two lines. One with bib numbers from 8000-10630 and the other for bib numbers 10631-10800. Do you see where there could be a potential problem with that system? I, of course, had a bib number in the 10100 range. wo0-to-the-hoobity-hoo. Here's a photo of the our group: And here's the crowd, surging forth into the Wilds of Bethesda: Once home, everyone showered and headed up to K-Factor's apartment for a delicious brunch. I invented a new cocktail, a riff on the Poinsettia (whi...

Wednesday is Friday and That Makes Me Happy

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. Am moving slowly this morning. I blame the weather (cold, dreary, drizzly) and the time (way too early). Yesterday, I had my scheduled weekly chat with an Energy Guru regarding my plan for my job. Then, I met Mike (who Makes Cakes) for lunch in Eastern Market. I took a bit longer than the allowed 45 minutes. Oops. It was worth it though. After work, I met Jerry at Nellie's for $1 vodka highballs. Hurrah! Christmas has exploded all over Nellie's. I'm all "too soon! too soon!" ... but, I guess, Christmas is rapidly approaching (as is Channukah, for my Jewish friends). Remember, how when you were a kid and the holidays seemed to Take FOREVER to arrive? Now, I'm all like "wasn't it Xmas last month or something?" ANYWAY, still no firm plans for Thanksgiving. I think the All-Pie Thanksgiving Spectacular will not be happening. I will probably be heading to Mike's (who Makes Cakes) for a Thanksgiving Potluck ... If I...

Spelling is Fundamental

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. One more day 'til the weekend! Do you think we can make it? Yesterday, I had to walk around the bowels of my building with some lead-based paint contractors (why, yes, my building is Chock Full of the Lead ... (and the asbestos ... and the mold ... and the radon ... and the formaldehyde)). While the LBP guys did their thing, I entertained myself by looking for spelling errors on various signs. Here are two fun examples of what I found: How many mistakse can you find? Have a great day! *smooches*

Weekend Update: Boozy Fun and Pottery Edition

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. And, another ( thankfully short) work week begins. I think I can handle three days. We'll see ... My weekend was rather uneventful. Friday night, I stayed in, watching movies and stuff. I crashed soon after 10PM (I think). Saturday, I was up early and blobbed around the house. A lot. I did a few chores. Some knitting. But not much else. Around 4PM, Tomokito came down for Martini Time. Then, around 7:30, I left for a party for two of my neighbors in Capitol Hill. The party was fun. Nice people. Good times. Sunday. Very hungover. Which is weird because I didn't drink all that much. Ugh. I don't think I ate enough though. sigh. AND, there was some stupid 10k going down the street at around 9AM with a Very Bad Cover Band Singing Bad Covers. Awful. Loud. And awful. Once that stopped, I took a long nap on the sofa. Yay. Around 3PM, K-Factor and I went to the pottery studio. I glazed my final 5 pieces and I picked up for finished ones...
Good Morning, Kittens. It's Friday! Hurrah. Plans for this weekend include: sleep, sleep, a little more sleep, and then some sleep. Also, I will be attending a baby party (not a shower, apparently) for my neighbors. I also have to go to the post office to pick up a package. Last night, I had dinner with Isa and her husband. I met them at Matchbox in Chainatown after work. Fun times. We ate lots. We drank lots. And then I came home and went to bed. Oh, I livez teh Exciting Life. Have a great weekend! *smooches*

*yawn* *sniff*

Good Morning, Kittens. Yesterday certainly was exciting! (*cough*) There was a work-related field trip to some new construction. Then, when I got back, a co-worker, who has been going room-by-room through the building made a discovery, which could make my job about a GaBillion times easier. Hurrah. We shall see. I have to make some calls today to verify the discovery. I know. I'm being vague, but I don't want to be dooced or anything. After work, I met Mike (not the one Who Makes Cakes) for dinner. We went to the Banana Cafe in Eastern Market. I had the spinach and mushroom chili relleno. Yum. It was good to catch up. I am still feeling a bit under the weather. Blah. Tonight, I am meeting my college friend, Isa, and her husband for dinner. Not sure where we are going. I am very looking forward to sleeping this weekend. Have a great day! *smooches* p.s. I'm going to San Diego for work in December (13-18). If you live in the area, let me know! Maybe we can meet...

Cough with a Side of Hack

Good Morning, Kittens. Am running a bit behind schedule, but I still have time for you, my luvvies. Yesterday, as I was rushing around trying to get to the 6:30 bus which invariably arrives at the metro station just in time for me to watch my train leaving the station, I spilled coffee on my white shirt. GAH! Quick change time. Fortunately, I had another (previously worn) white shirt understudy waiting in the wings. Crisis averted. Work was fine. Except towards the end of the day I started to feel kind of crappy. Coughy. Icky. It got worse as I got home. I doped up on vitamin C, phoned in to the monthly Board meeting (what did we do before speakerphones?), ate some food, and hit the hay around 10:30. Feeling a bit better this morning. We'll see what happens as the day wears on. There's a field trip at work today (yay!). Then, I'm meeting my friend, Mike (not the one Who Makes Cakes, the one who was in Scotland for a couple years) for dinner. I will totally miss my...

Three Shirts, Two Ties, One Very Large Credit Card Bill

Good Morning, Kittens. Busy day yesterday. I didn't go running ... Because I am lazy and I suck. I did go to the Whole Foods. I have foodz. Yay. And, I did deposit my paycheck (and, yes, Christopher, I do have internet banking ... and also direct deposit ... however, most places take at least one pay cycle -depending on when one is hired- to coordinate everything with the bank. Thus, my first check was issued live and on paper. Fun). THEN, I went shopping. First stop was Filene's Basement. They had no nice dress pants in my size. I bought 3 shirts (white, green, and blue striped) and 2 ties (purple/blue plaid and green/brown/gold plaid). THEN, I hiked up to the Banana Republic and tried on pants. I like their pants. And, usually, they have my size. I found 3 pair I liked in size 30/32. Two of them fit great. One was WAY loose (I don't understand). I asked the little helper guy if they had a 29/32 and he was all "only online." WTF? Tall thin people ...

Weekend Update

Good Morning, Kittens. It's my Monday off today. Yayz. And, if I can motivate off the sofa for a minute, I'm going for a run and then to the Whole Foods. Friday, my date postponed (again ... ). Luckily, I got to have dinner with K-Factor instead. She just returned from two weeks in Cambodia. Jealous! So, we met at McGinty's for beer and happy hour 1/2 price veggie burgers. Yum. She had picked up some of my pottery from the studio (see previous post) and brought me a super cute Cambodian silk tie. Love! Will wear to work tomorrow, methinks. Saturday, we were supposed to have Co-Op Yard Work Day, but it was raining. I did clean out the garden though. Bye-bye dead basil plants and cosmos. I did lots of blobbing. And watching movies. Sunday, my brunch plans were cancelled so I was able to help with the rescheduled Yard Work Day. I planted some bulbs (tulips and some purple flower). Then, I went to the pottery studio and trimmed my final 5 projects. I put handles ...

Friday Morning Quickie

Good (way too early) Morning, Kittens. I didn't make it to the Men's Wearhouse yesterday. It was too cold and rainy and by the end of the workday all I wanted to do was go home and veg on the sofa. Perhaps, I will go today ... or maybe tomorrow. Things at work are the same. We are slowly making progress on my ability to access the internet. My interim security clearance is almost done. AND, I finally have a working phone (I am not able to access the voicemail though). My weekend is chock full o' fun and excitement. I have so much to do and get caught up on. I was thinking of visiting a friend for her 40th birthday in NC, but I don't think I can handle a weekend trip (7+ hour drive) and do everything I need to get done. Saturday is Co-op Yardwork Day. Leaf raking! Bulb planting! Sunday, after brunch with my friend, CJ, I need to go to the pottery studio to finish up projects, b/c Monday is the final class. I will still need to go in at some point to do some f...

Tuesday's Grey and Wednesday too

Good Morning, Kittens. Yesterday was totes dreary and cold and rainy. I had planned to go for a run, but I no run in the rain. Srsly. What up with people who do that? I was also planning on sleeping in, but had a work related call at 8:43AM. What up with people who do that? Then, I couldn't go back to sleep. So I blobbed around the house. At 1PM, I had a work conference call. For an hour. On a Federal Holiday. At least I could bill the time - 2 hours, since I spent an hour afterwards typing up my notes from the call. Around 4, I went up to Tomokito's for Martini Time with Baby Hana. Baby Hana loves the martinis. Later, I did laundry. Then, my New Boots arrived. *heart* I am wearing them today. Be jealous of me and my New Boots. Today, after work, my New Boots and I are going to Men's Wearhouse. They are having a buy one get one free sale on suits. I need a new suit (or two!). I'm thinking brown and navy, since I already have charcoal gray. Have a great d...

Oh. Right. Blog. Hai!

Hey, Kittens. 'Member me? Your ol' pal VUBOQ? Who used to be fun and unemployed and Drunk All the Time? OMG. I could so live that life. And live it WELL. srsly. ANYWAYz, not much going on. I get up early. I work. I ride metro home. I make food. I go to bed. It would seem I have found a Routine. Yayz. Today, though, I got to sleep in a bit late (6:30! W00t!). And, then, take the Metro all the way to Franconia-Forking-Springfield to be fingerprinted for my security clearance. There was a Total Plus though: While at corporate HQ, this SuperCUTE and UBERgeeky IT guy fixed Iris the Netbook's issues with my company's timesheet system thing. Now, I can gets paid. Yayz! To top it all off? The SuperCUTE and UBERgeeky IT guy's name? HERO! srsly. LOVE IT. I hope he's single. gay. and goes to the company Xmas party. b/c I LUVS him. And will totally be stalking him 4EVah. We are still working on getting internet access at the Place of Work. BUT, I...

Weekend Update: Catching Up Edition

Image
Good morning, Kittens! OMG. This whole work thing is so not right. I mean, srsly. I don't even have time to blog. Or to update you about my fabulous trip LAST WEEKEND to NYC. You can check out my flickr photos here . And, Mush tells you all about it here . And the fabulous, Jere, talks a bit about it here . And, that's pretty much all that happened. Fun times. This weekend has been SuperFun too. On Friday, my hot date was postponed (boo). So I came home, drank lots and watched Very Sad Movies ( Pan's Labyrinth = Major Tearage). I also Fell In Love!!! With these boots: So I bought them*. Actually, SCGB bought them because he had some sort of discount thing. I'll pay him back when they arrive. Saturday, I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned some more. The house is *almost* presentable. Hurrah. In the evening, I wandered over to Heather's birthday party. It was fun. I drank a lot. I came home and some guy -who I chatted with several years ago- hit me ...

6AM Kitteh

Image
Good (Way Too Early) Morning, Kittens! It's 6AM. It's mah kitteh. It's cold. And I need to start getting ready for werkz. Happy Friday! *smooches* PS. Java, I was unemployed from August 1, 2008 - October 27, 2009.

Me. At Work.

Image
Good Evening, Kittens. This was me this morning: Cute, no? Work is fine. I am quickly gathering that I should not share my opinions about things/people with some other co-workers. They are all nice people. Some just lack ... discretion. I went out to dinner after work with Robert (not *that* Robert. the other one). We had tex-mex and margaritas. Well, I had margaritas. He doesn't drink. Now I am home trying to get ready for tomorrow. One more 5:30 morning and it's the weekend. Yayz. *smooches*

Tie One On

Image
Good Evening, Kittens. Work. It is KEEEEEEEEEEEEELLIng me. BUT, it is also PAAAAAAAAAYing the bills. So, I guess I will keep doing it. I just have no time. I hope to get caught up this weekend with the cleaning and the grocery shopping and the dating the cute guy who I went out with before I got the job. Plus, I think the Jakester gave me his cold. I am taking lots of Vitamin C and drinking juice. Combine feeling icky with feeling tired from adjusting to this new schedule and you've got me being tired and icky. Fun times. And, here's the shirt/tie combo from today: Yes. I went with Tie B. Have a great night. I need to finish laundry (fold and put away), wash the dishes, prep clothes for tomorrow, set up the coffee maker, take more Vitamin C, have a cocktail, spend some quality kitty time, and then bed (by 11 *fingers crossed*). The madness begins again tomorrow at 530AM. *smooches*

Quickie

Image
Good evening, Kittens. Sorry for the lack of posting. Work is not busy, but time-consuming. I have to be up at 5:30 to leave at 6:45 to be at work at 7:30. I won't have internet there until my security clearance is approved (which won't happen until I can complete the application ... which is done online ... do you see the problem?). Until then, not much time to blog, either in the morning or when I get home. I will make it up to you somehow, I'm sure. So, here's a picture of the chili peppers I just "harvested". There's a chance of frost so I picked most of what was left on the plant: Tasty. Now, I must iron. *smooches*

Oh, Hai. I Haz Blog?

Good (Nearly) Martini Time, Kittens. I just got home from NYC about an hour ago. I am beat. But must get organized for WORK tomorrow and Pottery Class tonight. Am uploading pix to flickr now. At some point a Full Expose on my Halloween Weekend in NYC will be posted. Stay tuned. *smooches*
