Good Evening, Kittens! This weekend, I was supposed to meet my friend, V from Philly, in Atlantic City; however, that trip did not happen.  Something about a Frankenstorm and most of Atlantic City being washed out to sea ... oh, well.  I was very disappointed. Luckily, V from Philly decided to come here.  Yay! He arrived Friday night.  I had been out to happy hour with a co-worker and former co-worker.  We basically blobbed on the sofa, drinking beer and watching DVDs.  Then, we went to bed. On Saturday morning, we took our time getting out of bed, but eventually made it up to Eggspectations for brunch.  Where I was reminded that I am not a huge fan of the hollandaise sauce. Then, we took the metro into the DeeCee. First stop was the Million Puppet March Rally .  It was kind of a bust.  There were definitely not a million puppets.  But, yay for support for public broadcasting. We, then, wandered over to the US Botanic Garde...

Oh, hai, Kittenz! Apparently, none of my local Kittens want any of my crappy pottery, so I guess I am going to be forced to leave it on the side of the road or throw it into Sligo Creek as a gift to the Pottery Gods.  Oh, well.  Crappy Pottery is so unloved. (Alternatively, it could be that there are no Local Kittens, but the thought of that gives me the sadz.  Begone Sadz Thoughtz!) When you last read VUBOQ things were peachy keen and we were on the Cusp of a Brand New Weekend.  Well, that weekend was chock full of fun and excitement. On Friday, I had Happy Hour with my co-worker, Tomokito, Bobby (formerly known as Steveandbobby), and Jerry at Nellie's.  My co-worker left and the rest of us were joined by Mike (Who Makes Cakes) at Alero, where we had many, many margaritas.  At least, I had many, many margaritas.   Saturday, I made marinara sauce.  And sliced up watermelon. Good Morning, Kittens. Hope you had a fabulous weekend. I certainly did, because I got to meet Dr. Mel ! Live and in person! And his SuperCute Husband! OMG. How lucky am I? How jealerz are you? HM? ANYWAY, Friday and Saturday I didn't do much. Hung out with Tomokito and SCGB at various points during those days. Saturday evening, I went into DC to chill with some friends, but was tired and came home early. Good Morning, Kittens. It's actually Sunday afternoon (hurray for post-scheduling) and I am ... irritated. So, I thought I would pound out a blog post rather than sit and fume and drink (more). I had a lovely day on Friday. SCGB joined me for lunch at Panera (I had a gift card!) ... although he only had a muffin and coffee. Then, after much internal -and external- dithering, I braved the impending storms and headed into DC to the National Gallery of Art. I wandered around snapping photos. The entire set is here . I don't know why, but this painting reminded me of Marve (Muinamir on Twitter): Perhaps it's the eyes. The NGA has an amazing exhibit right now, the Art of Power . I felt the totally coolest part was towards the end of the exhibit, where they had portraits alongside the actual armor worn by the subject of the portrait. Totes fascinating. Good Morning, Kittens! The Full Moon Hike (which, perhaps should be renamed the Full Moon Death March) was a lot of fun. Although the guide wasn't SuperKnowledgeable, he knew enough to make his little spiels at the (very infrequent) rest stops interesting. Did you know that magnolias are the oldest flowering tree? Or that there are over 10000 azaleas in the Arboretum, which were planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression? Good Morning, Kittens! Yesterday's weather was a veritable Crap-o-Rama; however, my day was So. Much. Friggin'. Fun it was well worth venturing forth into the cold rainy drippy frigid mess ... On my way to downtown DC, I texted a few friends, and -lo and behold- the beautiful M&M, fresh from their 2 year sojourn in Glasgow were possibly available to "hang out later will call soon." Bliss! I Can Haz Planz! While I explored the glories of the Panza exhibit at the Hirshhorn (and, really, kittens, if you are in the DC area - go. It's totally Minimalist Fun!), they toiled in the DC Unemployment Office (and I was so happy to be me!). Good morning, kittens! Yesterday was a rather slow day with not much to report, unfortunately. I was supposed to meet a friend for a Liquid Lunch Date today, but he hasn't responded to my email. I am thinking of taking a Museum Day and heading down to the Mall. I have a vague recollection that there is an interesting exhibit going on at the Hirshhorn. Good Morning, Kittens! It's a pretty sad reflection on my life when I have to force myself to get out of the house just so I'll have something of interest to blog about. OK. There was another reason ... or two. Which I will get to at some point in this narrative (but don't hold your breath). I decided to go to the Freer and Sackler Galleries ... mainly to see this new exhibit: Garden and Cosmos , which was stunning ... if a bit repetitive.
