Drainbead

Good Mid-Afternoon, Kittens.   Sorry for the delayed posting, but -OMG- today has been like Total Oogification ... SQUARED!   But, first ... last night was a LOT of fun.  Hanging out with the German was awesomesocks.  And my half-price happy hour veggie burger was deeee-ricious.  Nom nom nom nom nom.  Nom.  Several neighbors were there and a couple of the German's friends arrived late (as did the German's <strike>GF</strike> Intended ... but she wasn't as late as the last two guys to arrive).   Then I went home and went to bed.   Who has the best Thursday nights EVER? That would be me.  Srsly.   This morning was also SuperFun!  You see, yesterday at 3PM, my client informed me that I should plan to give a brief presentation regarding my project status at a meeting the next morning (meaning *this* morning ... meaning I had about 1.5 hours to put together a fucking presentation).  So, I quickly made some calls, gathered some information and threw togethe...

Good News/Bad News

Good Morning, Kittens!   Good News : My 8AM meeting in Franconia-Forkin'-Springfield was cancelled.  Hurrah!   Bad News : I will not be getting a salary increase.  Boo! (which was expected, but disappointing ... )   Good News : I look SuperCute today! Bad News : The pants I chose to wear this morning are a thinner material than I  thought ...   Good News : It didn't snow last night. Bad News : It's really windy (see previous Bad News statement).   Good News : Tonight is a Happy Hour with the German (SCGB's former roommate, who is visiting his GF) at McGinty's (1/2 price veggie burger 'til 7)! Bad News : Mr. Fantastic invited me (about 10 minutes after I'd accepted the above invite) to go out to dinner with one of his friends who is also visiting from out of town.   Good News : Mr. Fantastic changed his Facebook relationship status to "in a relationship." Bad News : Mr. Fantastic changed his Facebook relationship status to "singl...

A New Arrival

Good morning, Kittens.   Francis the Nook finally arrived yesterday and  isn't he pretty ? I purchased two books last night, Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde (the second book in the Thursday Next detective series) and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot (which is about the history of HeLa cells and the woman they came from).  One of the cool features of the nook is that you can lend other nook owners books for two weeks.  Scott has loaned me another book, The Help by Kathryn Stockett.  I also purchased a monthly subscription to the Washington Post ... which I get to try out free for 14 days (and, if I don't like it, I can cancel without being charged).  Yayz.   Prior to picking up Francis, I met Mr. Fantastic for dinner at the Heights.  We shared the fried green beans appetizer (yum!), and I had the butternut squash risotto.  Tasty (although the risotto was a bit too salty ... which could explain why I feel so dehydrated this morning).  Mr. Fantasti...

Weekend Update: Movies and Boozies

Good Morning, Kittens! Hope you had a fabulous weekend! Mine was full of fun and excitement, fer sure. On Friday, I jetted out of work early for an important appointment ... my hair appointment! Yes, I am reblonded. Huzzah! Afterwards, I headed home for a night of alone time (just me and my martiniz). Tomokito called down around 10:30 to see if I wanted to come up for a drink. No need to ask twice. Saturday morning, Ray came by to visit Jasha (who is currently living with SCGB). After Ray had a little hug and love time with teh kitteh, we went to brunch at Austin Grill. Then, we did a little shopping. I bought booze (vodka and wine). After Ray headed back to DC, Mr. Fantastic asked that I wait for him in Downtown Silver Spring, so I plopped myself down at the McGinty's bar with a Boddington's and waited. Once there, he ordered some food and then we walked back to my place. Around 8, another friend picked us and SCGB up to go to Sarah (of Sarah and Mario)'s birthda...

A Very Shallow Night Out

Good Morning, Kittens.   As you know, Mr. Fantastic and I met ShallowGal in DC for drinks last night ... and it was So Much Fun.   We went to Urbana (in the Hotel Palomar) for $5 glasses of prosecco and $8 pizzas.  Then, we headed into the hotel to meet up with some photo booth vendor that she was thinking of hiring for her son's Bar Mitzvah (in 2011!  hello advanced planning).   Once we located the Photo Booth Guy, we discovered it was part of some wedding event thingy with FREE BOOZE!  and FOOD!  and, did I mention the Free Booze?  And Chocolate?  And cookies?  And cupcakes (one of which went missing ... poor lost cupcake.  Someone left her cupcake out in the rain).  OMG.  So.  Much. Fun.   Especially the photo booth ... you can see the pictures on flickr, since I have trouble posting photos through email:   http://www.flickr.com/photos/enviroboi/4368803937/   http://www.flickr.com/photos/enviroboi/4368803905   One (or all) of us may (or may not) have been slight...

My Exciting Life

Good Afternoon, Kittens!   Not much has happened these past few days ... Tuesday after work was spent blobbing on the sofa with my good good friend, Dirty Martini.  Wednesday, I blobbed some more *and* did two loads of laundry.  Who has all the fun?   Today has been equally exciting - filled with data entry and graph-making.  Woo hoo!   Fortunately, tonight will be much much better.  Mr. Fantastic and I are meeting up with ShallowGal for drinks after work.  Yay!  I know you all are totally jealous of me.  Try to deal with it.  I promise to take a few pictures ... if I don't get too drunk and forget.   And, I have a busy weekend planned as well, but that will be for a later post.   *smooches*

Hey, Guess Who's Back in Pottery Class?

Image
Good evening, kittens. Was that a groan of disgust I heard? But, it's true! Pottery class has begun (after the first class was canceled due to snow) ... Prepare yourself for the onslaught of pottery photos. Like these: Of course, before pottery class, Mr. Fantastic and I met K-Factor, the Canadian, and another friend at the movies. We saw Avatar in 3-D. It was pretty awesome (the 3-D, not the movie). I mean, the movie was a fun, silly, formulaic action adventure ... but Oscar-nominated? for Best Picture? I don't think so. VUBOQ sez "the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences is WRONG!" Now, go forth and spread the word. And, today, I went back to work. Work iz hard. Fortunately, there was a 2-hour delay. Getting up at 7AM is soooooooo much better than 5AM. Srsly. After work martiniz make it all better though! Have a great night! *smooches*

Weekend Update: Valentine's Edition

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. Hope you had a brilliant weekend. Mr. Fantastic and I are off to see Avatar (in 3-D) with K-Factor and one of her many friends in a little while. Our weekend was awesome. Saturday, we had dinner at the Quarry House and, then, watched the Star Wars Trilogy (Episodes 4-6) with SCGB. Sunday morning, I helped a neighbor shovel out our trash dumpster. Then, Mr. Fantastic gave me some Valentine's presents ... Chocolates! And a double-headed diamond-studded 12 inch dildo (not pictured). Later that afternoon, we headed up to K-Factor's for champagne and truffles. Yum. And, then, I cooked dinner: Potato Leek Soup and Wild Mushroom Ragout over toasted baguette. Tasty! And, then, there was more movie watching. Have a great day! *smooches*

12 of 12: snOMG Edition

Image
Good Evening, Kittens. My 12 of 12 photos aren't all that interesting this time. It's hard to be fun and exciting when you don't leave the house 'til noon. So, Mr. Fantastic and I blobbed around his apartment (no pictures). Then, we walked to the Diner in Adams Morgan. I had a grilled cheese sandwich with feta, spinach, and tomato. Mr. Fantastic had pancakes, eggs, and toast. I also had coffee. Mmm. Coffee. On the walk back to his place, we saw this bike. When we returned to his place, my New Boots had arrived (which I had only ordered yesterday. Zappos? It rocks). How cute are these boots? Then, I headed back to Silver Spring. This is the tree in front of my building. And this is the parking lot. I took a long nap with Isabella, and, then, I flipped through cookbooks to find something to cook for Valentine's Day dinner. Icicles! Sidewalk! And that was my day. Plus or minus a few cocktails. *smooches*

Good Morning, Kittens. I'm heading back to Silver Spring today. Yay! I am so ready to be home. Not that spending the entire week at Mr. Fantastic's has been bad. But, as Dorothy Gale said, "There's no place like home." I am sure Miss Isabella is getting lonely. Yesterday, after blobbing around the apartment for a bit, we decided to go out for lunch. Margaritas, baby! Then, we did a little shopping (chocolate!) and headed back to the apartment. We watched movies and I ordered a pair of boots (which are supposed to be delivered today. Crazy!). Still no sign of my Nook though. I have emailed B&N service center to see what is up with that. The delivery tracker hasn't changed since 2AM February 9th. That is forked up. No big weekend plans. Mr. Fantastic will be heading up to Silver Spring on Saturday night, I believe. I guess we will cook dinner on Valentine's Day. and that will be about it. Monday, even though it's a holiday, I may go to ...

Snow Boots

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. Not that I need new snow boots (I have a rockin' pair of Doc Martens ... who knew they even made snow boots?), but I've spent the past week trolling Zappos ... I totes love these two pair: Polo Ralph Lauren Ranger Sherling Rolldown and Polo Ralph Lauren Tavin Rolldown If you had unlimited funds, which one would you buy? (and you can't say "both") Lessee ... I am still snowbound in Adams Morgan. I left work last Friday at noon and haven't been back. And, I don't have to go back until Tuesday. Oddly enough, since I'm going a little stir crazy, I'm thinking about heading to the office later today or tomorrow. What up with that? And, where is my NOOK? WHERE? It's been in Columbia, MD since February 9th according to the tracking website. Anyone want to drive out to Columbia? I hear the snow isn't bad there. Yesterday, I did my taxes (partially. I realized I'm missing two forms). Which reminded me that I need ...

Blizzardlicious!

Image
Good Snowy Morning, Kittens. I'm still hunkered down at Mr. Fantastic's. Yesterday, I managed to make it out to Silver Spring. I cleaned out my refrigerator (three days with no power = gross cheese. srsly). I created a warm little blanket house for Isabella. I figured out what was up with my apartment's electricity (tripped breakers in the boiler room). And, I moved the rest of Jasha's stuff up to SCGB's apartment (where we thought he would be warmer). Then, I met SCGB for a late lunch at Adega (tomato! basil! soup!). Once we finished, I headed back to DC to await Snowpocalypse Part II (or are we at III now? srsly. Too much snow). Last night, Mr. Fantastic's roommate stopped by. I won't say much but Much Drama ensued. Watching the interaction of those two was certainly interesting ... Mr. Fantastic trying to be a "nice guy", Roomie being manipulative. Quite interesting. The sad thing is that Mr. Fantastic considers someone who treats h...

Snow.

Good morning, kittens.   I've been snowed in with Mr. Fantastic since Friday.  I hope to make it back to Silver Spring at some point today.  The Sligo Co-op finally had power restored at 330AM today.  It had been out since midnight on Friday.  Poor frozen neighbors.   I'll fill you in on all the excitement later.  Just wanted to check in to say hi.   *smooches*

Security Now Knows What Color Underwear I Wear

Good Morning, Kittens.   As we await Snowpocalypse 2, how about an entertaining little story.  See ... where I work we have to pass through a security check.  Usually our bags are x-rayed and then we go through the little metal detector (which my steel-toed snow boots set off).  Today, however, the x-ray machine was borked ... which meant "visual check by security guy."   Please keep in mind that, because I am planning to spend the Snowpocalypse 2 Weekend safely ensconced within Mr. Fantastic's apartment, I packed my knapsack with clothes for several days.  Which the security guard relished rummaging through.  Also keep in mind that since I am planning to spend the Snowpocalypse safely ensconced within Mr. Fantastic's apartment, I may (or may not) have packed cuter underwear than I normally would pack.  Just sayin'.   Anywayz ... we should be getting Early Release from work today (12:30!  Boo-yah!).  Then, I'm heading over to Mr. Fantastic's.  Late...

Why I Hate Groundhogs

Good Morning, Kittens.   Are you bundled up?  Out shopping for supplies - bread, milk, toilet paper, gin?  Yes, it's SnowPocalypse Eve Part Deux.    WTF?  If I had wanted this much snow, I would have moved to fucking Michigan (or Canadia!). But I didn't.  I live in the South!  Below the Mason-Dixon Line.  We are not supposed to get two 12"+ snows in the same winter.  My contract specifically states that we get ONE snow (of less than 6") only per winter.  And that should be all gone by the next day.  Alas, here we are, anxiously awaiting the Storm of the Century (Part 2!).  I am going to brave the stores, because I need chips and salsa and popcorn and something for dinner.   And gin.  I'm out of gin.  Why is life so cruel?   No exciting news from yesterday, unfortunately.  I spent most of the evening doing laundry and catching up with friends on the phone.  At least, when I'm buried under an avalanche, I'll have clean undies on.   Have a great d...

My Kingdom for an Egg and Cheese Biscuit

Good Morning, Kittens!   What a day yesterday, huh?  I am exhausted.   After work, I headed over to Mr. Fantastic's house.  We watched a Star Trek: the Next Generation marathon on his HUGE TV.  Then, we ordered chinese take out from Mr. Chen's Organic.  Yum Yum Yum!   Then, it started to snow.  And we watched that (and had teh secks).  And, then we watched "The Devil Wears Prada" and had more of teh secks.   And, then we went to bed.  and, um, well, y'know ... *ahem*   And, then, I got up this morning and made him check the OPM website from his phone to see if work was cancelled.  It wasn't.  It wasn't even forking delayed for an hour or two.  So, after a little more *ahem* y'know ... we got up and I got ready for work.   He walked with me to the metro station.  So sweet.   But, yeah, so tired.   And I like him a lot.   *smooches*

Today Was Busy

Good Afternoon, Kittens.   Here it is almost Go Home Time and I *finally* have a moment to fill you in on my life.   Yesterday, I had a conversation with a manager who instructed me to do something which I felt was slightly unethical.  I still did it (because I was told to); however, I am keeping records and my name is not on the project.  I don't think anything will come of it, but it made me feel slightly icky.   After work, I met Mr. Fantastic for dinner.  We went to Ulah Bistro on U Street.  I had the white bean vegetarian burger.  Nom.  And a martini.  And a glass of wine.  Tasty.  Although I was tempted to go back to his place for a bit, I had to head home.  Lots of things to do there.   I let the Guest Kitteh out of his room for awhile.  I checked email.  I washed dishes.  I contemplated various outfits for work today.  I *ahem* packed an overnight bag, and, then, I went to bed.   This morning, the nationwide manager of my program came for a site visit.  He and a...

Weekend Update: Mr. Fantastic Edition

Image
Good Morning, Kittens. I'm trying a new thing and posting a photo via an email posting. Since, I can't view my blog at work, would someone be so kind as to let me know (either via comment or personal email) if it worked? Thx. My weekend was SuperFuntastic! Friday night, I did nothing. Yay. I went to bed early. Yay! On Saturday, I got up, did a little cleaning, and headed to the grocery store (in the snow!). Mr. Fantastic called to say he was running late (we were to meet at noon), so I headed to Adega to make some wine purchases and eat a plate of eggplant fries. Yumz. Mr. Fantastic met me there around 12:30ish. He had a bite to eat and we trudged through the snow back to my place ... we blobbed on the sofa, talking and watching movies (and "watching movies"). That evening, with the snow still falling, we decided to eat in rather than braving the elements to eat in Downtown Silver Spring. I made black bean chili and rice. We drank wine. Lat...
