Dear Whole Foods

Image
Dear Whole Foods , I tried to understand when you took my two favorite 365 Brand Natural Italian Soda flavors, pink grapefruit and lemon, and packaged them into smaller bottles. You tried to fool savvy consumers by charging $0.20 less, even though -on a per ounce basis- the cost is actually a little bit more. I feared change was coming when my favorite 365 Brand Frozen Pizza with spinach, tomatoes, and feta disappeared from the shelves. And, lo and behold, change came: A slightly smaller, slightly more expensive 365 Brand Frozen Pizza with spinach, feta, and kalamata olives. I have sworn off the soda, because, really, I shouldn't drink so much sugary fizzy stuff. I am giving the pizza a chance tonight, but will probably never buy it again. But, Lord Help Me, if you fuck with my Pleasant Morning Buzz [24 oz. at $9.99], I will fly to Austin, Texas, and shank the fucker who made that decision. Then, I'll start shopping at Trader Joes. Do not doubt me. Love and *smooches*, vuboq vu...

We Secretly Replaced VUBOQ's Regular Coffee with Sanka

Like, OMG, kittens. First, I was really early to work this morning ... What up with that? The only thing I can figure is that early this morning I recognized that if I started to hit snooze to get a few minutes extra sleep, I'd be hitting snooze until about 5PM. I am Tie-red. So, on my way into work this morning, I had time to stop by Panera for coffee and a bagel (because I still had a few dollars left on my birthday Panera gift card from the Parental Units). I got my cinammon crunch bagel and coffee and continued my mary way to work. As I entered my building, I took a sip of my coffee and OMGWTFBBQPONIEZZZ!!!11eleven... It was forkin' hazelnut coffee *cough* *gag* *sputter* *gag* *cough* Apparently, some hapless Panera employee had secretly replaced VUBOQ's favorite rich and vibrant HELLO I'M AWAKE blend with the craptastic hazelnut flavored coffee. I'm still drinking it (because I paid for it (well, technically, my parents paid for it (but still ...))). It...

Sunday Morning in Fourteen Syllables

Not enough coffee in the world to get me going.

It's Not the Heat; It's the Humidity

Bloggin' 'bout da weather! Bloggin' 'bout da weather! I took the bus to work today for several reasons ... 1) I was running a little late; 2) a #12, which stops right by my office was coming; and 3) it's freakin' hot and had I walked I would have completely evaporated before I even got halfway here. I am so happy that Ride-On buses now accept the SmarTrip card. No more fishing for change, like the unfortunate young man in front of me, who forced the entire line to wait for HOURS while he dug around for another coupla dimes. So ... I got home from work yesterday, and guess what greeted me? A big ol' bag of squash from DUN's gard3n!!! I was so excited I immediately called Y and invited him over for dinner tonight. Now I have to decide how to prepare it. If anyone has any fun squash recipes (that don't involve baking), let me know! I'm a man on a mission. And, to update you on Infused Vodka #2, Coffee/Cinnamon Edition, here's DAY 2: More later,...

Busy Bee Sunday Morning

Image
Behold! Infused vodka #2! 3 tbsp coffee beans, 1 stick cinnamon, 1.5 tbsp sugar and 750 mL vodka. Now, the hardest part ... the waiting. It's 11AM and I've already cleaned the kitchen, taken out the trash, cleaned the cat box, and walked to the Giant. *woot* I plan to do NOTHING for the rest of the day. Ha. I kid. I will probably continue to work on cleaning and organizing the bedroom. FUN times, kittens. As a fun little side note, if you remember a week or so ago, I blogged about taking a pottery class at UMD. As you know, I took pottery all three years I lived in Japan ... I never used the wheel there though. Then, when I came back to the states, I signed up for another pottery class to learn the wheel. I had to drop out of that class after about 5 weeks because I got the job in China. Anyway, here's a photo of one of my objects from that class. It's the first vase I've ever thrown. It was made in two parts and then smushed together. I'm sure there's a te...

Vuboq Potter and the Deathly All Night Reading Session

Happy Sunday, Kittens! Just checking in from a coffeehouse in College Park. I'm hanging out here with Y ... *woot* ... and by "hanging out" I mean "pretty much ignoring each other and doing our own thing." I'm about to crack open one of my short stories and do a little typetytypetyping on it. Fun times. Anyway, I finished Harry Potter 7 yesterday afternoon around 2, after an all night/all morning reading session. And, OMGWTFBBQ!!!111oneuno, it was forking awesome! My initial impression is that it's probably the best of the seven books. Everything was tied up neatly with a bow on top. Quite lovely. I laughed. I cried. I laughed while crying ("Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion" - name that quote moviebitches!). Such a satisfying read. I promise not to give away any plot points for those of you who haven't read it. Email or IM me if you want to chat about it! I'll update you on all the other weekend adventures t...
