Weekend Update: Run and Fun Edition

Good Evening, Kittens.

And, *ugh*, blogger has a new look. So annoying to try to figure it out.  Bleah.

ANYWAY, lots has been going on in Vutopia recently.  First, I received a call from the Brooklyn DA.  It would seem that a bandana recovered at the scene of my mugging last year had a DNA hit ... And, now, I may be extending my upcoming trip to NYC for a day in order to testify in front of a Grand Jury.  Good times.  Even if nothing comes of my part of the case, this kid is going to be put away for quite some time, I think.

And, as a bonus, the DA's office will presumably pay for me to change my train ticket.  Huzzah.

As for my weekend, I didn't do anything on Friday night except go to bed early and sleep late (well, late for me.  I woke up at 7:30).  Saturday was our co-op's yardwork day.  I weeded.  Spread mulch.  Trimmed bushes.  Good times.

And on Saturday night, I went to bed VERY early, because I had to get up at 4-fucking-30 in the A.M. to get ready and drive to Alexandria for the Parkway Classic 10-Miler.

It was cold and rainy and gross, but I had a very good result (for me), about 11 minutes faster than my Army 10-Miler time last Fall.  Yay me.  You can check out my results here.  Afterwards, Mario (who also ran) and I made a plan to go out to lunch together.  However, by the time we both got cleaned up, neither of us wanted to do anything.

I took a nap.  It was loverly.

And I had a martini.  It was also loverly.  Hurray for International Liver Resting Week 2012 officially ending!

Later, I reconnected with a cute neighborhood boy - 31, 5'11", 155 lbs.  He came over.  We watched "Down With Love" and then had lots of fun times.  It was during those fun times that this happened:

Oh, yeah. There's a funny story behind this bruise that I may share some day.

You see what happened was we were on the sofa and my arm was underneath him.  I went to move my arm from out from underneath him.  I sort of twisted my arm and it hurt and then there was this huge bruise.

I am so delicate.

Like a precious flower.

But, still, good times.  I kicked him out a little after 9 so I could go to bed and get some rest.

And that was my exciting and fun-filled weekend.
Hope yours was equally as interesting!

Flight

Good Evening, Kittens.

I am back to work. *ugh* The 5:15AM wake-up time is as awful as I remembered it being. And the people I work for are as clusterfuckified as I remember them being. Although I am glad to be gainfully employed, I totally need a new jerbz.

Anyway, Monday night, I got a couple of pieces of pottery back ... the platter pictured above, this soup mug-like thing:

Soup Mug?

And another platter, which will be a wedding present for some friends who are getting married next week.

And, on Tuesday, my first day back in the office, the Space Shuttle Discovery stopped by to say "Welcome Back to Work."

My co-worker and I climbed up on the roof on the south side of our building, and I managed to take a short video:

And, there you have it. Good times for all involved.

Weekend Update: Not Much of Nothing Edition

Good Evening, Kittens!

I've had to "work from home" today. Tomorrow, I go back to work. On the one hand, I will be glad to be getting a paycheck. On the other of the hands, I am not looking forward to getting up at 5:15AM. Ugh. So. Friggin'. Early. Somehow, I suppose I will survive (and, more than likely, my survival will include the consumption of large quantities of caffeine).

ANYWAYZ, my weekend ... It was a whole bunch of nothing ... the highlights being that on Saturday I met Ray for brunch in DC. AND, I managed to (1) not drink and (2) go home alone. Yay me! (Although I have to admit, brunches where I (1) do drink and (2) go home with someone tend to be a LOT more fun).

Not that brunch with Ray wasn't fun. It was. It's always good to catch up with him.

Once back in the Spring, I stopped by Pacers to pick up my Parkway Classic 10-Miler race packet. The shirt is REALLY nice, a New Balance running shirt. Sweet. For dinner, I made miso soup and kimchi fried rice.

And, by "made" kimchi fried rice I mean "heated it up in the microwave." I did make the miso soup from scratch though.

Here's a picture:

Nom nom nom nom nom

And, thanks to Tomokito, I discovered my love for Trader Joe's Kettle Corn Cookies. I think they are made from Pure Evil, because I can't stop eating them.

On Sunday, I did some of the stuff that I'd been putting off during my Unfortunate (Not Quite) Unemployment. I cleaned the bathroom. I put together several packages to mail. And, I ironed a metric shit-ton of shirts (15, actually).

Then, I went for a walk. On the way home, V called. He was on his bike near my building. So, we met up and chatted (just chatted) for awhile. That was fun.

And, that was about all of my excitement.

Hope your weekend was more wonderful than mine!

Why I'm Looking Forward to Monday

Good Morning, Kittens ...

Yes, I am looking forward to Monday. And, there is one very simple reason for that:

Mmhm. I bought cute new shooz. And they are being delivered on Monday! I guess the shoeatorium is officially over. HUZZAH!

And, I got to use a Get Well Zappos Gift Card from a group of wonderful bloggy (and IRL) friends (which I received after my surgery last December). Thanks so much Polt and FDot and Adam and Craig and David and Tam and Mush and Michelle M and Dr. Mel and John. You are enabling my habit. *smooches*

And the Slog Continues

Good Evening, Kittens.

I totally meant to blog this morning, but -well, obviously- that didn't happen. So, what's been going on?

I am still on LWOP, which means I am not getting paid.

On Wednesday, I went to lunch with my co-worker (who is also on leave ... but will be going back to work on Tuesday. I may not. We work for different companies on different contracts in the same office. I should find out on Monday what is going on with my contract). We went to Mandalay. I had Noodle #1. OMG. So delicious.

Then, I came home and took a nap. And talked to the most fabulous cuzin ever (or was that yesterday? hmmm ...). And, then, I did laundry. Oh, the good times.

Yesterday, I did much of the same, minus the laundry and the talking to the cuzin and plus running 6.25 miles (and setting a 10K PR - 54:18. Go me!). Also, while making dinner, I managed to give myself a 2nd Degree steam burn on my left middle finger. Ouch.

And, today, I updated my resume (and discovered a typo). How can several HR Specialists review a resume and all of them miss the same typo? HOW? Admittedly, it was pretty easy to miss. But, deadly. I had my job title as "Energy Manger." Yeah. Oops. Once that was fixed, I signed myself (and a couple of neighbors) up for a CSA Farm Share. We'll be getting a box full of yummy organic veggies every week starting in May (and ending in October). Later, I walked up to Lebanese Taverna Cafe for falafel. Mmm. Falafel.

Tonight, there will be sofa blobbing and DVD watching. Can you contain your excitement?

Not much going on this weekend. Tomorrow, I'm planning on running 8 miles and meeting Ray for brunch in Dupont. And no real plans for Sunday.

Hope your weekend will be more fun than mine!

International Liver Resting Week(ish) 2012

Good Evening, Kittens.

After my rather boozy weekend and the interesting way brunches have been ending for me recently, I decided to declare this week (and maybe next) International Liver Resting Week(ish) 2012!

Yes, I'm going off the sauce for a little while and drinking delicious smoothies (like the blueberry, apple, spinach, carrot, cashew one pictured) every day. Mmm. Smoothies. My liver has been working overtime and needs a vacation, fer sure.

I think I'm going to wait until after the Parkway Classic 10-Miler on 22 April to fall off the wagon again. That way I can also use the "I'm training" excuse for the whole Not Drinking Thing.

On the plus side, K mentioned that he is also giving up the boozy deliciousness for the week. Apparently, he, too, had a little too much fun this past weekend. We're going out to dinner on Friday. Hm. What is dinner out without booze even like? So odd ...

In other news, pottery class yesterday was rather uninspiring. We only have a few classes left and I used the last of my clay to throw to very off-center and slightly wobbly bowls. Oh, well. Someone will love them, I'm sure.

Then, today, I actually had some "work" to do. It was tedious and boring (and I don't think the 6 hours I spent dealing with my computer issues will be billable), but it means that I will at least get *some* money this week. Of course, as my boss was giving me the assignment, he also mentioned that I am not going to be able to do the other work later this week he had lined up for me. Something about the client being a total crackhead. *sigh* On the plus side, this frees up my schedule so that I can (possibly) meet R (the guy from brunch on Sunday) for lunch.

I had sent him a message, saying that I had a fun time, apologizing for the unfortunate visible bruising, and offering to take him to dinner. He said he prefers lunch.

Ok. So that's what we're doing. Lunch.

Also, I have discovered that I have some Mystery Bruises on my arm. Did I fall down? Or did someone grab me with great force (or not so great force considering how easily I bruise)? Who knows? They aren't super awful, but one of them really hurts when I touch it (so don't touch it! *sheesh*).

But, back to lunch, he's supposed to let me know when he is free ... either tomorrow or Thursday.

Tonight, for dinner, I had a quorn chik'n cutlet with gruyere, garlic mashed red-skinned potatoes, and red kale sauteed with Meyer lemon juice. Nom nom nom!

Nom alert!

And, I guess that's about it. Have a wonderful evening.

Week(end) Update: A Hussy Is Never Lonely Edition

Good Morning, Kittens!

You would think being at home on Leave Without Pay (which, in case you didn't know, means I don't get paid) would mean I would be more devoted to updating my blog. Apparently, that thought is incorrect.

Oh, well.

As it turns out, I did not have a cold, but some sort of allergy. I am blaming the dogwood blossoms. I normally don't have allergies, but everyone has said that this year has been an awful year with very high pollen counts. Ughz.

On Wednesday, I went to the pottery studio. I attached some handles. And picked up some finished pieces ...

After pottery, I came home and did laundry. w00t.

The end of the week/weekend were much more interesting ...

On Thursday evening, I went to K's place. He has a cute little condo off of Rhode Island Ave. He made us dinner - lentils and some sort of spring vegetable mix served on polenta. Delicious. We had wine. And, then, we had hot hot buttsecks. And, I will say this: He was very enthusiastic. And energetic. And we didn't get much sleep. Fortunately, I didn't have to go to work the next day. He did. ha!

Friday, my co-worker (who is also on Leave Without Pay) and I went to Adega for lunch. Yum! While we were there, Tomokito walked in. The three of us had a good time hanging out for a bit.

Later that evening, Tomokito and I headed into the district. Eric from Baltimore was to meet us at Number 9 for happy hour. We had many drinks and then staggered over to Thai Tanic for delicious Thai foodz. Nom. We came home. Eric left. I went to bed.

Saturday. Very. Over. Hung. But, I somehow managed to go for a 10 mile run ... which was my only real accomplishment for the day (unless you consider ordering pizza for dinner an accomplishment).

On Sunday, I had a leisurely morning and, then, headed into the District to attend an Easter Brunch. Brunch was very boozy. I got a little tipsy. And, then, we started drinking vodka. And, then, I started making out with this very cute guy who was there.

And, then, I went back to his place and we had Nekkid Fun. For a very long time. And he had to get up this morning at 5ish to get ready for work. Ouch. That was really difficult. Anyway, he's a nice guy, good kisser, very into cuddling, hot body. But, my inexperience with men of the paler persuasion reared its ugly head ... someone (not me) had to go to work with some very visible ... um ... bruising on his neck. Oops. I feel bad about that.

Around 6AM, I left his place, hopped on a bus, and headed home. Very. Over. Hung. I went back to bed and got up about an hour or so ago. Huzzah!

So, there you have it. Good times for all involved.
Have a great day!

Jenny and Me Go Together Like Peas and Carrots

Good Afternoon, Kittens!

As you may have heard, I am currently in contractual flux with my job. As of Monday, I am on Leave Without Pay until (possibly) April 16th. WFT?

My company is going to try to throw me a couple hours here and there, but still. Leave. Without Pay. GAH!

Fortunately, I have my tax refund and my end of year work bonus to tide me over during these Dark Times. So, I have been spending my days (well, day and a half, so far), blobbing on the sofa, taking naps, and drinking myself into a slobbering sobbing drunken mess.

More productively, I have also planted lettuce and carrots (pictured) in my little garden plot. I went to pottery class ... and I plan to go to pottery studio a couple of times this week. I will also be updating my resume and doing a little job hunting. Good times.

Yesterday, my college friend, Karalee, and I went to see "The Hunger Games." Both of us have read the book. And, while we enjoyed the movie, felt that it did not quite live up to the book. As SCGB said the other night at dinner, "There was no hunger in these Hunger Games."

Also, I have either a slight cold or some sort of pollen allergy (possibly dogwood). It is yucky. And, I am thinking I may have to postpone my date (and sleepover!) tonight with K. Alas.

And, that's about all my news for now. Stay tuned for exciting updates later in the week.

Have a great day!
