Weekend Update: Busy Busy Edition
Good Afternoon, Kittens.Whew! Busy day today! I've planted chrysanthemums and ironed 10 shirts. I still need to take out the recycling, iron a couple of pairs of pants, and clean clean clean ... and maybe go for a run (although I might put that off until tomorrow).
Anyway, good weekend. Friday, I had happy hour at Molly Malones in Eastern Market/Barracks Row. Lots of beer. Maybe a tequila shot. Little food. VUBOQ was a little durnk.
Saturday, very. hungover. Lots of blobbing. And a 3.5 mile run. Then, Carolyn came over and we went to dinner at 8407 Kitchen Bar, a new-ish restaurant near Silver Spring Metro Station. It was delicious ... but expensive ... especially when you add in cocktails, a couple of glasses of wine, and dessert.
After dinner, I went to K-Factor's birthday party at Buddha Bar in DC. It was fun, but the drinks were pricey. And it started to get really crowded. And sometimes really crowded places make me uncomfortable. And the second drink I ordered was bad. So I left a little early. Oh, well.
Sunday, I went to the pottery studio. I made a plate and a bowl. Then, I headed into DC to meet this guy (J?). He was nice enough. Relatively attractive. We sat and people watched and talked for awhile. Then, we went to Commonwealth for a drink and appetizers. The date ended with a handshake. Weird. I can't remember the last time I ended a date like that. Not much chemistry anyway.
When I got home, SCGB and Tomokito came down for bourbon and gossip. Fun!
Now, I think I'm going to take a nap. Yay for Mondays off!

Weekend Update: It's Still Going On Edition
What a weekend. Like, *whew* ... I am exhausted. AND, there is still EVEN MOAR fun on tap for today.
So, Thursday, after nearly being mugged on the train home from work, one of the Alphabet Boys ("I") texted. He wanted to come over. I said no. Thursday night was ME Night. I made a delicious dinner of tofu, bok choy, and mushroom stirfry (using my own homemade habenero hot sauce). And, I had a bottle of prosecco. And, I watched the 3.5 hour Bollywood Extravaganza, Khabi Khushi Khabie Gham. It was amazing. Then, I went to bed and finished reading the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay.
Friday, I had a hair appointment. Yay. After that, I met Mike Who Makes Cakes for Lunch. When I got home, I had a package: Glitter Bandages! from an anonymous stalker! YAY! They are so fun. Thanks, Mystery Anonymous Stalker Person! I wore one out to da clubz.Which is what I did Friday evening, Eric from Baltimore and I met Tomokito at the U Street Alero for dinner and many many margaritas. Then, we staggered over to Town. We watched the drag show and then danced until 1ish. We got home at 2. Eric went home. And, somehow, I ended up inviting one of the Alphabet Boys ("E") over. We had superfun teh buttsecks until 4AM. E is sooooooooooooo fine. OMG. But all he wants is the superfun teh buttsecks. No relationship potential. Oh, well. Whatever works.
Saturday? Very. Hung. Over. (and a little sore). I spent most of the day on the sofa, napping and blobbing. Around 4 PM, I headed over to Mike Who Makes Cakes' house to help him do a wedding cake for one of my neighbors. I painted leaves with edible glittery stuff. Fun. Then, we went out to dinner with some of his friends and I went home. Here is a picture of the finished wedding cake.Sunday? Not as hungover, but very tired. I went for a run (for the first time since I started getting colds, about 2 weeks ago). The plan was to run/walk about 6 miles. After 2 miles, I died and came home.
Later that afternoon, Tomokito, Baby Hana, Emiliano, and I piled into the car and went to the neighbor's wedding. It was boozy good times. We got home around 7. I had cocktails with SCGB around 9. Then, I went to bed. Bed is good.Today, I am meeting Mark for lunch. Then, having afternoon margaritas with K-Factor and other neighbors. And, finally, heading off to pottery class. Also, stay tuned. There is a contest brewing in my brain. I have 5 mugs to give away and am working on how I am going to do it.
Have a great day! *smooches*

Weekend Update: Whirlwind Trip to NYC
Good Morning, Kittens.*whew* What a weekend! I went up to NYC for "David Pasteelnick's" 45th Birthday Cabaret, which, although it sounds similar, is *nothing* like a Birthday Cabernet ... both do contain quite a bit of alcohol.
ANYWAYZ, so I left for NYC immediately after work ... if you define "immediately" to mean "not even close to immediately." I finished work at 4. My bus was at 5:30. So, I had time to wander around Macy's for a minute and to get food for the bus at Chopt. Of course, then the bus was over an hour late. We didn't board until well past 6:30. ugh.
Which means I didn't get to NYC until after 11 (original arrive time was supposed to be 9:20). Which means I didn't get to Jake's place in Brooklyn until nearly midnight.
Which means I was very tired Saturday morning. I was supposed to meet Nida for coffee in the morning, but I was tired and she had swollen ankles. Instead, I met Y for brunch around 2 at Curly's Vegetarian Lunch. I had this:
Polenta, spinach, 3 fried eggs, marinara sauce, cheeseAround 5, I headed back to Brooklyn to get ready for "David's" Cabaret. I wore my cute purple UniQlo jeans.
The show was at Don't Tell Mama in the theater district. David was fabulous and funny, of course. Josh was there. And Enrico. And Jere. And we made some new friends too.Afterwards, some people went to a nearby restaurant, Film Center Cafe(?). It was fun. I had pizza and beerz.
Around midnight, Jake and I headed back to his place. Where we drank more.
Sunday morning? Slightly overhung lazy morning. Unfortunately, I was not able to visit the Mothership (aka UniQlo).
And, then, I had to leave to catch my 1PM bus. Can I just say that the bus stop was about a million times more chaotic than usual? I don't know why. But the MegaBus employees were not getting people to line up for each bus. So the passengers would swarm the bus trying to get on. Insanity. It was like trying to board a bus in Beijing. Srsly.
Oh, and disorder makes some people Very Cranky. Not me. I tend to stand back and watch it all unfold ... especially after being bitched at by some cranky old woman. When I asked what bus they were in line for, she said, "The 1PM to DC. Don't think you're cutting in line!"
I was like, "What? I'm only trying to find the end of the line (you cranky old prune)."
After that, I stood back and watched the madness. When it calmed down and most people were on the bus, I showed the employee my reservation, boarded the bus, and took a seat. So stress free.
Overall, a superfun weekend! And, the few crappy photos I took are here.
Have a great day! *smooches*

One Reason Why I Strongly Dislike One of My Co-Workers
He will be speaking about the energy and cost saving benefits of using ethanol.
Hope to see you there!
I got this response from my co-worker:
I have a question....since the amount of energy you get from a gallon of ethanol is less then gasoline, how is that cost saving? DOE's July 2010 report on Alternative Fuels cost comparison on an Energy-Equivalent Basis has gasoline at $2.71 a gallon and to get the same energy from ethanol you will spend $3.25? I don't see a cost savings here. If we wanted real cost savings, we should be using CNG at $1.91 for the cost on an Energy-Equivalent Basis.
The only plus is an environmental plus.
What I see is typical spin from the Feds.
I replied:
I'm sure tomorrow's speaker will be more than happy to answer your query.
He responded:
I'll pass. I get enough spin reading and listening to the news on a daily basis.
WTF? I had to stop myself from sending a sarcastic "Thank you for your continued support of the Energy Program" back to him.
Anyway, I hope there will be a good turnout for the speaker despite people in my own office refusing to come. And, at the end of the day, I'm heading up to New York (YAY!) for David's Birthday Celebration. YAY! Good times ahead!
Have a fabulous weekend! *smooches*
